5 Basic Insurance Policies Everyone Should Have

Sharing is caring!

When it comes to insurance policies, the industry is much larger than you probably suspect. Think about something of value in your life. Chances are, there are a whole host of insurers, like a van insurer, out there just looking to snap up your business. However, depending on how much you’ve invested and how much certain assets are worth, you might not need some of the more complex insurance policies just because aspects of them apply to you. Here are some of the basic insurance policies that everyone should have.

Car insurance

Even though the law strongly encourages it, you’d be surprised how many people don’t have car insurance in the United States. Unless you’re driving around a piece of cardboard on two wheels, chances are you need at least some form of collision insurance so you’re not responsible for out of pocket repairs on both your car and someone else’s, should you be at fault.

Warranties are a big help if you can’t afford top tier policies. Depending on your make and model, you may be able to get aftermarket warranties. Mopar protection plans for Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM vehicles are a great investment since repairs on those vehicles typically don’t come cheap.

Homeowners insurance

If you own a home, this may seem like a given. After all, a bill for your average home repair could put quite the dent in your pocket. This counts for exterior structures as well, such as garages, sheds, and gazebos. For certain exterior items, warranties may also apply, depending on the brand. If you can’t find warranties available for certain items, make sure to choose products known for their durability, such as Everlast II.

Renters insurance

Don’t own a home quite yet? You can still keep all of your belongings protected (up to a specified limit) with the help of renters insurance. These policies typically cost very little per month and are an excellent way to protect yourself against theft, inclement weather, and maintenance issues. When the alternative could possibly mean replacing a good chunk of your belongings, renters insurance really makes sense.

Health insurance

Alright, so this is a tough one. Given how controlling healthcare marketplaces can be with their pricing, it isn’t surprising that many US residents chooses to forgo health insurance or otherwise carry incredibly basic policies. However, getting sick is extremely expensive in this country and while you may not need a policy that lets you visit the doctor monthly, you should still do an annual health and wellness checkup, many of which are free through even bronze-level plans. Otherwise, do your best to eat properly and keep your immune system going strong!

Life insurance

Especially if you’re of an older age, considering holding a life insurance policy is a great idea. These are usually fairly inexpensive, even for certain higher claim amounts. It’s also the perfect way to ensure your family is provided for should you pass on. Not that you should be planning for that, by any means, but preparedness is never a bad idea. Likewise, a living will is a useful tool for looking to the future and taking care of your loved ones ahead of time.

A policy for everything

When it comes to selecting insurance, it might truly seem as though there’s a policy for everything and anything. That’s why it’s important to take care of the basics first. Make sure you’re protecting yourself in essentially situations to begin with before you start thinking about getting boat insurance before your summer vacation! It’s the best way to make sure you’re keeping yourself safe, sound, and healthy without breaking the bank.
