Adult Vaccines To Be Wary Of

One of the primary focuses of science today is still disease prevention through vaccines. However, vaccines do not always work as intended, and they can fail to prevent disease while causing other health problems. (1) So how should we respond when it’s reported that adult vaccines are being expanded?

In the United States, Americans have been dealing with a health epidemic due to higher rates of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and a strange rise in autoimmune disorders. There are several vaccines being recommended to adults, and each targets one of these epidemics. However, this new vaccine schedule has some problems, including new shingles vaccine lawsuits.

As of now, at the age of 19, the current adult vaccine schedule looks like this:

  • Influenza
  • TD (tetanus and diphtheria)
  • Varicella (chicken pox)
  • MMR
  • HPV
  • Zoster (shingles)

The new schedule and proposed vaccines for those who have certain employment conditions will also include the following:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Pneumococcal 13
  • Pneumococcal 23
  • Pneumococcal B
  • Pneumococcal 4

What are the New Vaccines Targeting?

  • Hib

The number of vaccines has expanded for adults because there have been rising cases of several diseases. However, there could be some correlation between the lack of parents getting vaccines for their children.

The vaccines are for the following diseases:

  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Auto-immune disorders
  • Malaria
  • West Nile Virus
  • Dengue
  • AIDS
  • Tuberculosis

In the latest installment of vaccines, there are also new amounts of adjuvants. These are currently mercury and aluminum, which have been linked to causing autism. However, one new type of vaccination will inject DNA necessary for the production of a new pathogen. It is predicted that this vaccination will have little side effects and only a small amount of antigen will be created.

Be Wary of the Shingles Vaccine

For many years now, the shingles or herpes zoster vaccine has been the cause of concern. Known as Shingrix, this vaccine is produced by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and has been marketed as the cure for shingles. However, there are some competitors such as Zostavax, which was licensed in 2006.

When people get shingles, it’s because they have a new reactivated chicken pox virus in their blood. This is typical of people who didn’t have chickenpox when they were younger or when they received the shingles vaccine.

While Shingrix was approved for use in 2017, there are several reports that show Shingrix has been associated with administrative errors causing severe side effects in patients. In most cases, patients have been prevented from getting a second shot, which causes more health problems. There is now an increase in shingles cases, which has been linked to these new vaccines. In addition, the new adjuvant makes it so that the immune system is provoked at a higher level to respond. This is caused by the QS-21 stimulon. This may be the cause of severe side effects, but the results are not conclusive. (2)
