There’s nothing more summery than an outdoor fair. The games, the ambiance, and the food are all things that make me (and the little ones!) so happy. One of my total favorite things? Cotton Candy! So I came up with the idea to replicate it at home, but in a cake shape! Enter this Cotton Candy Cake that’s almost too pretty to eat, almost.

This is one of those cakes that packs a wow factor but truth is it’s so easy to make you are going to ask yourself why you didn’t make it before. Seriously the cotton candy cake is just as easy as whipping up a traditional cake. All the magic is in how you spread the frosting but you don’t even need especial tools or a complicated technique, actually, I made it with the back of a spoon!

How to make the Cotton Candy Cake frosting

Cotton Candy Cake

The little secret is making 2 frostings, one light pink and one light blue then placing a big dollop of each of them on top of the cake and swirling so the colors get just a bit combined. My best advice is to make the cake 1 day ahead so it’s really cold to frost it. It makes the decorating process easier when you have a cooled down cake.

I prefer to keep things simple around here and just get the cotton candy look, but you can also make your cake taste like actual cotton candy. Just add 1 Tsp of cotton candy flavoring to the batter or the frosting and that’s it. You can find it online or in the baking aisle of some supermarkets.

The result is this super moist melt in your mouth cotton candy cake that will leave everyone surprised and asking if you made it yourself or bought it, don’t worry I can keep the secret of how easy it was to make.
