Fall is the season of scarecrows, which is why this craft stick scarecrow is the perfect fall craft. Using just a few basic craft supplies, you can whip up your own craft stick scarecrow, perfect for decorating your space for the season. Take a look below how to make to get started, and find out more about the Creation Celebrations going on For Champions for Kids & Fiskars!

Here is what you will need:

  • Assorted wide wood craft sticks
  • Assorted craft foam
  • Pair of googly eyes
  • Craft felt
  • Yellow or orange rick rack
  • Fiskars Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Black marker

We found everything we needed for this project at our local Walmart. As you can see, you are using commonly found supplies making this an easy craft to enjoy.

Directions:

  1. Begin by creating the head of the scarecrow. Line up several wood craft sticks together, gluing them together where they touch. Secure them by running an additional craft stick along the back of them, holding them all in place.
  2. Add your pair of googly eyes. Just add a drop of glue and press.
  3. Use your craft foam to create a nose for your scarecrow. We snipped out a simple triangle shape with our Fiskars scissors and glued it in place.Fun Fall Craft: Craft Stick Scarecrow | Optimistic Mommy
  4. Finish the face by adding a mouth. Use your marker to create a simple stitched mouth.
  5. Now, add the hair. Cut rick rack into strips and glue it to the top of the head. This will look like straw.Fun Fall Craft: Craft Stick Scarecrow | Optimistic Mommy
  6. Your scarecrow is complete when you add a hat. We cut a simple hat from foam and embellished it with felt flowers. With our felt scraps we also created a little bow tie for our scarecrow. Just snip and glue into place. Now he looks like a real gentleman!

We made several at our Creation Celebration I had with my daughter, mother-in-law, and sister-in-laws this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. Especially since everyone chipped in a new school supply that we have donated to my daughter’s preschool class. The teachers at her school do not get a lot of funding for school supplies, so they were very happy to get this donation! To get involved with your own Creation Celebration, make sure to visit the Champions For Kids Help Kids Thrive page!
