Family Day Activities For Winter Months

1. Make a Movie
Get your family together and create a story that you can all act out together. Or decide on a theme and create your own YouTube channel with a variety of family videos. Make sure everyone knows their part and act out your story on camera. Then edit it together and have a family movie night. Give “awards” for best actor and director. If someone in the family is musical, they can create a soundtrack to go along.

2. Enjoy a family bowling night
Bowling is a great way to get the family out of the house and enjoy a fun activity when the weather is cold. Many bowling locations now include fun themed events like “glow-in-the-dark bowling” or “disco bowling.” It’s a fairly inexpensive way to enjoy a night out that makes one of the best family activities for colder days.

3. Go ice skating
Outdoor ice rinks won’t be around when the weather turns warm so enjoy them now and spend some family time on the ice. Even if your ice skating skills aren’t the best, it’s still a great way for the family to enjoy some quality time together, and get some exercise. It may not be a warm activity, but it’s a lot of fun and you can warm up with hot chocolate when you’re done!

4. Hunt for Treasure
Hide a few toys and other goodies around your yard and leave clues with each that lead the kids to the next prize, and so on. Fill the last prize with special treats like candy bars and ice cream or movie gift certificates for the whole family.  Another fun option is to use geocaching as a treasure hunt that is also one of the best family day activities that is educational.

5. Family Fun Night
If you really can’t get up the energy to leave the house, make your own fun at home. Play board games together or have a movie night. We love to play Life, Battleship, Candy Land, and Uno.  Get everyone involved in making dinner with make-your-own pizzas or tacos. Have assorted toppings available and let everyone make their favorite. You can even set up an ice cream sundae or popcorn bar so everyone can make their own sundaes or top popcorn with their favorite concoctions.

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some quality time together as a family and get a little fresh air. Don’t let the cold stop you!  Enjoy these amazing family day activities that are perfect for those long cold winter days.
