Family Fun Adventures in Finland

Travelling with your family and loved ones is extremely enjoyable, allowing for excitement and bonding to take place. If you are planning a family vacation, why not visit the beautiful country of Finland. With so much to offer, for every member of the family, Finland has become one of the most popular tourist destinations, offering a large array of exciting experiences.

When travelling with the family, most of the times you are on a rather tight budget. Travelling is not cheap, with accommodation often taking a large chunk out of your budget before you have even left your room. We recommend staying away from the many hotels around Finland and rather trying a cheaper and cosier family approach. There are a large number of websites available, such as www.housetrip.com that give you a chance to spend your nights in a much more economical cottage or apartment.

With accommodation out of the way, here are two fantastic places that should definitely make it onto your must-see bucket list, proving to be fun for the whole family.

Ruka Ski Resort

This resort has everything you could possibly need to make your icy holiday complete perfection, with an endless number of activities to keep each and every member of the family thoroughly entertained. The slopes aren’t too threatening, which makes it the ideal place for the first time skier. Before you take to the slopes, you can even visit the Ruka Ski School, where you will be able to perfect your skill at alpine skiing, telemark skiing, snowboarding, cross country and even skiing for disabled persons.

If skiing isn’t quite your thing, Ruka has much more to offer. You can experience the adventures of Ruka Safaris with the thrills of snowmobiles, husky dog sledding and even reindeer trips for the lesser adrenaline junkies.

The Predator Centre

Open in summer, autumn and spring, the Predator Centre is the perfect place to become acquainted with some of the biggest and most deadly predators that Finland has to offer. Embark on a guided tour of the centre, which lasts for about an hour, where you will find out all there is to know about the animals of Finland. These animals are mainly orphaned, being rescued and extremely well cared for by the men and women of the centre. The Predator Centre is famous for their bears but you will also get the chance to see lynxes, reindeer, wolves and foxes. This place is without a doubt worth the 10 euro entrance fee which, after all, goes towards the animals.
