My family and I are huge mushrooms lovers. We love them in spaghetti sauce, salads, and just eating them by themselves. There used to be a restaurant near us called Bill Knapp’s that had the best fried portobello mushrooms. Unfortunately they closed quite a few years back. The other day, after seeing some portobello mushrooms for a decent price, I decided to try my hand at making my own friend portobello mushrooms!
Fried Portobello Mushroom Recipe
- Portobello Mushrooms
- Parmesan Cheese
- 2 Eggs
- Oil For The Deep Fryer
- Place a bottle of oil in the deep fryer and start it up, or put the oil in a Dutch oven over medium on the stove.
- Put 1 cup of flour in 1 bowl, 1 cup of Parmesan cheese in another bowl, and beat 2 eggs in a separate bowl.
- Slice your portobello mushrooms, if they aren’t already. First dip your sliced mushrooms in the flour, then the egg mixture, then in the Parmesan cheese. Put on a plate until ready to deep fry. Refill the flour and Parmesan cheese as needed until all of the mushrooms are coated.
- Place the coated mushrooms in the fry basket or in the Dutch oven. Fry for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown.
These mushrooms are a perfect appetizer for any get-togethers you have coming up, or just because! I love the crispiness of them, and the added flavor of Parmesan cheese is amazing! These will definitely be made again and again in our household! I hope that you enjoy them as much as we did!
