Preparing For Christmas #HolidaysAreCalling #CollectiveBias | Optimistic MommyChristmas is a very special time of the year. There is just something about all the lights, the Christmas music, and everything else that goes along with this beautiful season. I thought I would share with you today how my family and I prepare for Christmas. From decorating to planning gifts and more, I’m excited to share with you how we get ready for Christmas in the Pies household!

The day after Thanksgiving is always when we start decorating for Christmas. I like to give the turkey as much of the month of November as possible. 😉 This is our first year having a fireplace to decorate, thanks to my awesome in-laws so that was pretty exciting this year. Do you see that Santa to the left of the fireplace? My mother-in-law, Theresa, painted that! She had made a few of them and put them into a cover for the fireplace. Last year she took it apart and gave each of her kids one, so we plan on putting it up each year. It is a great addition, and Riley loves it.Preparing For Christmas #HolidaysAreCalling #CollectiveBias | Optimistic Mommy

Of course you can’t forget to visit Santa! Riley got a very unique visit to Santa this year thanks to some inside connections my husband’s aunt has with Santa. She got 20 whole minutes with Santa just to herself! We got some beautiful photos, including the one above. She also got to enjoy cookies with him, and he read a story to her. It was so much fun and we can’t wait for it to happen again next year!

There are all kinds of fun events going on this time of year, and Riley got to meet her “boyfriend” the Grinch at a Santa’s Workshop event that her Gigi (Riley’s grandma, Theresa, pictured above) and aunt Angie took her to last weekend. Riley has loved the Grinch for a couple of years now, so being able to meet him would be fun – or so we thought. Riley kept saying she was “nervous” the entire time. How cute, right? 🙂

To help me stay in touch with friends and family, and to prepare for gift giving traditions, I’m fortunate enough to have the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit with Walmart Family Mobile. With all the great apps available in the Google Play store, I am able to keep track of who we have in the two Christmas gift exchanges we have going on. Preparing For Christmas #HolidaysAreCalling #CollectiveBias | Optimistic MommyWalmart Family Mobile service is very affordable. For $34.88 a month you get unlimited talk, text, & web for the first line, and for additional lines it is only $29.88, and that comes with 5 GB of 3G data. This great speed allows you to do more with your plan! Right now Walmart has a bunch of rollbacks to help you save money but still get a great phone:

  • Alcatel One Touch Evolve 2 – $49.88 (Was $59.88)
  • LG L90 – $119 (Was $179.88)
  • Nokia Lumia 530 – $49.88 (Was $69.88)
  • Nokia Lumia 635 – $99.88 (Was $129.88)
  • Samsung Galaxy Exhibit – $79.88 (Was $99.88)
  • ZTE ZMAX – $179 (Was $199.88)

And between December 14-27, 2014 there is a $40 Walmart gift card promotion going on with the purchase of the Samsung Galaxy Avant. You can find more information on that here.
