Super Simple Egg & Sausage Breakfast Mug with Tyson Fully Cooked Sausage!

Stop for a minute and think – what is your morning like? Is it fast paced and hectic? Is it calm and quiet? If you are a parent, it’s probably hectic. If you work or have school-age children, you’re trying to get everyone together and out the door. Even if you stay at home you probably have play dates , or doctor’s appointments to get your children to. Whatever the case may be, I’m sure you rarely have time to spend getting a big breakfast together for your family. Being a stay-at-home mom, I know I don’t like to take all the time to fix eggs, bacon or sausage, or whatever the case may be. With my husband working a lot of morning shifts, he needs a pretty hearty meal to get him going and energized, and cereal just doesn’t do it. We needed an alternative. On a recent shopping trip to Sam’s Club we came across a new product, Tyson Fully Cooked Sausage. This past weekend they had in-store demos available for you to try out the product. It got me thinking about how this could fit into our lifestyle, especially since the sausage is already fully cooked. Our daughter absolutely loves eggs, but I feel that she needs something else to go with them. So I came up with the idea of a Breakfast Mug – and I’m going to share this easy recipe with you!

For this recipe you just need a few ingredients: 2 eggs (I use 2 per person – they fit well in a coffee mug), one Tyson Fully Cooked Sausage Patty, milk and seasoning. A quick tip – if you’re going to add salt, wait until the end because if you add it before, your eggs will be really rubbery – and I know that’s now how I like mine!

Next crack your eggs into your mug, add about a tablespoon of milk (this makes them fluffier) and add your seasoning – my seasining of choice is pepper. Whip them together with a fork, then stick in your microwave for 1 minute! While your eggs are in the microwave, dice up your Tyson Fully Cooked Sausage patty.

After the minute is up on the eggs, take the mug out (be careful, it may be hot – I would recommend using an oven mitt to grab it!) and stir the eggs. They are, of course, not going to be done cooking yet – no worries! Add your sausage and stir once again. Place back in the microwave for 30 seconds. Take out, stir again, and place back in for another 30 seconds. By this time your Breakfast Mug should be done cooking! If it happens to not be, just stick it in for another 10-20 seconds or so.

You can eat it right out of the mug or, if you have a younger child and want to make it easier for them eat, you can always turn the mug out onto a plate and serve it that way just for them. I added a little bit of cheese for my daughter, as well, because she can never seem to get enough of the orange/yellow stuff!

Thanks to Tyson Fully Cooked Sausage, we get a more rounded breakfast, when before we would just be eating cereal. And it doesn’t take too much longer to make than pouring cereal into a bowl and adding some milk! It’s definitely worth the extra couple of minutes, if you ask me!

  3. What a great idea to cook the egg in a mug! Thank you for sharing. 🙂 My boys would love those Tyson sausages, I will have to give them a try.

  4. What a clever way to make a protein packed breakfast in just a couple of minutes! I am going to try your microwave mug trick sometime soon. And just like your daughter I know mine would want hers on a plate with a little cheese sprinkled on 🙂

  5. This is a cool way to make a quick breakfast. I’m too cheap to buy the already cooked sausage, but I would buy a couple pounds of loose sausage and cook it off and break it down to small packs and freeze. Same thing, just a little time during the week. Thank you for the recipe and How to…

We may have met by chance…but we become friends by choice.

  6. What a great idea! I could do this at work and have a healthy hot breakfast–but definitely with cheese in it.

  7. Ooh now this is something I could do for breakfast. I am not a breakfast person, but being diabetic, I can’t really skip it either. I’ll have to look for this!!
