Pet Peeves

Sharing is caring!

I have a lot of things that annoy me, just as I’m sure you do. They’re otherwise known as pet peeves. Here is the definition of a pet peeve from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

pet peeve – noun; a frequent subject of complaint

Here’s a list of my pet peeves and why they drive me crazy:

  • When People Call Themselves Names – This is definitely my number one peeve. I cannot stand when people call themselves names like stupid, idiot, dumbass, etc. I despise this because we all make mistakes, but that doesn’t make us stupid or whatever; it makes us LEARNERS. From mistakes we learn and there’s is definitely nothing wrong with learning!
  • Using Texting Slang – The English language was made for a reason – I think we should be using it! I kind of understand that it can be quick to just type out ‘u’ for you, ‘2’ for too/to, or ‘brb’ for be right back or what have you – but it’s just not for me. And I’ve had people get on me about it! I don’t care if it takes me two separate text messages to get my whole message across. If you like to do it, that’s fine – I won’t say anything about it but please don’t get on me about how I don’t do it. (The only exception I have to this is LOL. I use this a lot.)
  • When My Internet Goes Down – I think most of you can agree with this one. This tends to happen to me when I’m in the middle of something important or when I have a deadline to meet or something like that. So annoying!
  • Leaving dirty dishwater in the sink – My husband is very guilty of this. He’ll start doing dishes (love this part!) but he’ll get distracted and not have time to finish them. I understand this completely. But what drives me crazy is he’ll leave the dirty dishwater in the sink. Eww! Just wish he would let the water out!
  • Leaving only an inch of orange juice/milk/whatever in the jug – This is pretty self explanatory. There’s basically nothing left when it’s this low; why not just finish it off and put the jug in the recycling?
That’s all of my pet peeves, or at least the ones I can remember right now. What are some of your pet peeves?

I can relate to you on some of your pet peeves, but I am guilty of texting slang. I find it so much easier and faster, but sometimes get a reply back wanting to know what it was that I just sent.LOL

  2. My cat got me out of bed at 5.30 this morning. I’m kinda peeved about my pet.

  3. I posted earlier but now I’ve remembered an actual pet peeve. I’m British and Americans sometimes like to try and imitate my accent which really gets on my nerves. It usually comes out as posh Southern or London Cockney which is nothing like my accent. Also, when they do it on TV it makes me cringe and want to flip the channel.

    Thanks for the post 🙂

People posting items and saying they are free, then finding out I have to pay 9.99 shipping and handling… Pet Peeve!

One of my most frustrating pet peeves is people who pull out in front of you, causing you to slam on your brakes, and then they turn off on the next street. And, if they are turning left, you have to come to a complete stop because they suddenly think they have to have a football length of clearance in order to turn. ARRGGHH!
