3 Potty Training Tips #TrainTogether

3 Potty Training Tips

Potty training is not easy by any means. It is a trying time for both parents and child, but it is possible. Today I am sharing some potty training tricks that I am learning that work well.

  • Patience. It really is a virtue. Sometimes children can pick up going on the potty super fast. Some take more time. Take cues from your child to see which they are. I promise, your son or daughter will be going exclusively on the potty before you know it.
  • Timing. You can tell when it is time to start thinking about potty training by picking up on cues that they give. If they give signs of interest in going to the bathroom, telling you that he or she has to pee or poop, or if they want their diaper changed right after pooping – these are all signs that it is that magical time to ditch the diapers, try some Pull-Ups and go potty!
  • Bribes. Yeah, I know – bribing a child isn’t the best thing ever. But it works. The way I do it, if she goes pee she gets two M&M’s, if she goes poop she gets three, and if she wipes (which is a struggle in itself) she gets four. Believe me, it makes all the difference. And enjoy some of those M&Ms with your child – you’re training together, so celebrate together!

To help you get through potty training easier, Pull-Ups is a great brand of training pants that I highly recommend. There are several methods of potty training – well, Pull-Ups has teamed up with renowned child psychologist and potty training experts to help create a method that takes the guesswork out of potty training. It’s called the Pull-Ups Potty Partnership. Check out the video:
