With worldwide COVID-19 cases approaching 32 million, employers must take steps to reduce the chance of a COVID-19 outbreak in the workplace. These four actions can help reduce the chance of coronavirus spreading among your employees. You can also organize onsite COVID-19 testing at your place of business. Use of Healgen Antigen Test kit helps ensure the health, safety, and productivity of your staff with results typically available within 3 business days.

1. Clean Regularly

Coronavirus spreads through respiratory droplets which can fall on the various surfaces in your workplace. Because the virus can live on surfaces for up to three days, it is important to frequently clean all of the surfaces in your workspace. Frequently touched surfaces, such as desks, tables, phones and computer keyboards, should be disinfected daily. It may also be helpful to have environmental cleaning Maryland perform a deep cleaning periodically, particularly if you have had any infections among employees, especially butterfly needles if you work in a field that uses them.

2. Encourage Employees, Customers and Visitors To Wash Their Hands

One way the virus spreads is by people touching an infected surface and then touching their eyes or mouth. Washing the hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water has been proven to be an effective way to reduce the transmission of the virus. Instruct your employees, customers and visitors to frequently wash their hands, or to use hand sanitizer and avoid touching their faces. It can also be helpful to hang posters as reminders. If possible, provide employees with hand sanitizer for their desks, and place dispensers throughout your building to promote use. Make sure your employees are given opportunities to wash their hands and that the washrooms are always stocked with soap.

3. Require Masks

Disposable paper or reusable cloth masks have been shown to reduce the spread of coronavirus by reducing the number of respiratory droplets exhaled into the air. Requiring all employees who do not have a medical reason not to wear a mask to wear one can drastically reduce the chances of employees transmitting the virus, particularly when combined with other measures, such as social distancing. Consider providing employees with masks to encourage compliance and provide instructions on how to wear and remove them properly.

4. Promote Social Distancing

Where possible, keep employee workstations at least six feet apart. Allow employees who can do their work remotely to work from home. Require employees who have symptoms of COVID-19 to self-quarantine for 14 days and get tested before returning to work.

Because of the highly contagious nature of coronavirus, employers need to take steps to prevent the spread of the virus in the workplace. These four steps can help keep your employees safe and productive.
