4 Ways to Set a Good Example for Your Kids

Sharing is caring!

When you become a parent you will be an instant role model. Kids look up to the adults who are close to them, and the way you act can affect their future behaviors. Setting a good example for your kids doesn’t have to involve a massive lifestyle change, it can be as simple as being conscious of your own actions:

1. Be Financially Savvy

Teaching your children about money can start early on. You can set up a bank account and take them to the bank with you to deposit their own money. Your own financial values will be instilled in your children. For example, if you are a hard worker or someone who has spent time studying, they will likely follow your example. Finding ways to make extra income will show your children how to be innovative and resourceful, and one way to do this is through Amway. How does Amway work? It is a supportive direct sales company that gives parents a flexible way to make money and new friends.

2. Be Kind

Chances are, being kind probably comes naturally to you. However, there are a few additional things you can do to show your children how to be a good human. Volunteering your time, raising money for charity, and helping others are all great ways to give back to the community. By being a good friend and a caring member of your family it will teach your little ones how to treat other people. Often it is not just about what you say, but how you act that counts. If you find you swear a little too much and want to break the habit, a good old swear jar might help!

3. Be Healthy

Leading a healthy, active lifestyle is not only good for you, but it is also good for your children. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring, and you can involve them in the meal preparation process by getting them in the kitchen. Limiting your alcohol intake and giving up smoking may be two other areas you would like to work on.If you play sport and encourage them to do the same, or take them to the park regularly, your kids will learn to enjoy exercise. Be active as much as possible because it is good for their overall health and well-being.

4.  Be Patient

No matter how busy you are, you should always make time for them. They are only small for a short time and when you take a few minutes to read them a bedtime story, paint, or kick a ball, they will remember the effort. With the daily hustle and bustle, it can be difficult to remain calm. If you can manage your stress and be more patient, they will learn to do the same. Children mimic adults, and having strategies to deal with any upsets will help the whole family.

Enjoy the Reward

Being a parent is hard, but it is also extremely rewarding. By teaching your kids financial literacy, kindness, patience, and how to enjoy exercise, you will be giving them a great start to their future. The best thing is when you are conscious of being a good role model you may just finally find the motivation you need to break some of those bad habits you have been struggling with!
