There’s no better time to show off a cute hair accessory than now! This adorable little button hair clip is easy to make and is a fun addition to all the red, white, and blue you can find to wear this Independence Day. Button crafts are always fun to make and this button hair clip is no exception! The best part, is you can customize this and do different colors for any holiday or color scheme! 🙂
Supplies:
- inexpensive hair clip or a plain one you’d like to dress up
- red and white buttons (4 red, 3 white)
- blue ribbon
- needle and thread
- scissors
Instructions:
Once you’ve sorted your buttons, begin attaching them to the clip with the hot glue. I alternated the colors to resemble the stripes on the American Flag. Let the hot glue cool completely.
While the hot glue is cooling, you can start to make your flower. Cut a piece of blue ribbon approximately 15″ long. Begin gathering the blue ribbon onto your needle and thread until you’ve reached the end.
Once all of the ribbon is gathered onto the thread, pull it tight to create a coil of ribbon for the flower.
Carefully tack the coil of ribbon together to secure the flower.
Use the hot glue again to attach the flower to the center of the clip.
Once the glue is cool, the hair clip is ready to wear.
You can make hair clips like this to coordinate with any outfit or for any holiday. Have you ever made a hair clip or hair accessory? What are your favorite craft supplies to make into hair accessories?
I’m a 20-something stay-at-home mother and wife. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful daughter, two loving dogs, and a lazy cat. I wouldn’t change my life for anything! I love to read, listen to music, cook and blog!
