5 DIYs to Improve Your Poolside Living

Sharing is caring!

If you have a swimming pool, you know just how much fun — and how much work — they can be. Not only do you have to clean your pool regularly, but you also want to ensure the right chemicals are used to clean your pool. After all, cars only last a few years on the road without the right maintenance and your car is the same way. Without investing in the right cleaners and tools, your time at the pool might be full of chores instead of pleasure.

Swimming is the fourth most popular summer activity, and if you own a pool, it’s likely to be your kids’ favorite hangout in just a few short months. Luckily, you can DIY your way to a comfortable poolside paradise with just a little work.

1. Pool Pallet

A really great way to organize your poolside is with an old pallet. You can sand and paint the pallet any color you want, even decorating it with a variety of bright patterns. Then, all you need to do is add a few hooks to store towels, water guns, snorkels, goggles, and more. The slots can be used to store your pool noodles, pool cleaning equipment, and paddleboards. You can either lean it on the pool house or hang it up. Either way, this great organizational tool can help you keep your poolside in perfect order.

2. Table Pot

A great way to create waterproof storage for your poolside is to use large flowerpots sealed with the planter’s own saucer. These storage containers can be large enough to store guest’s purses, wallets, and keys or small enough to just keep your wedding rings in it. You can also decorate them in all kinds of ways using paint, string, rope, and tape, making them a great craft idea to keep kids occupied on a rainy day.

3. Poolside Chairs

What do you do when you only want to dip your toes in the pool and you want to relax? Well, a clever addition to your poolside is cheap plastic chairs — with the legs removed. Just paint them in your favorite summer shades and line them up with the edge of your pool. They’ll let you dip your toes in the water and relax easily. Plus, they’re a great way to reuse old or broken plastic chairs you’re thinking of throwing away.

4. Floating Fun

Nothing is better than cold beverage on a hot day but what if you’re relaxing in the pool or hot tub? Well, with a plastic bin, a pool noodle, and some ice, you’ll be able to keep drinks close and the pool closer.

Just attach the pool noodle around the top of the bin, fill it with ice, and top it with your favorite canned drinks or water bottles. You can put this floatation device right in the pool. Drinks will stay cool, kids will stay hydrated, and you won’t have to worry about leaving your coke in the sun. Just make sure you keep up with your pool maintenance if anything spills into the pool.

5. PVC Towels

Wet towels are the bane of a pool owner’s existence. With some PVC pipe and a little bit of know-how, you can make the perfect rack for your family. You can even decorate it so it fits the theme of pool as well. Metallic finishes can make the plain white PVC pipes look like something brand new.

Pools are great places to relax in the summer but they can quickly become a mess. The CDC reports that 17,000 slip and fall accidents occur every year, so make sure you’re maintaining your pool area to prevent injuries, as well. Hopefully, these poolside DIYs can help you bring order to the summer chaos.
