Whatever the age is, exercise is good for the body. It’s not only to lose the baby weight and be healthy. Exercising also lessens the risk of having long-term chronic health conditions. Another important benefit is that it helps you lead a happier life. That should be enough reason for you, moms. Who doesn’t want to have a healthy life filled with joy and laughter?

However, when we say exercise, it’s not doing the household chores or swinging the baby around. And don’t tell us that you got a home gym because the time will come that you will be bored and lose motivation to do it. You probably don’t have enough variety at home. When you exercise at home, excuses are also inevitable. To be physically active, you should join a CrossFit gym. Make it intensive. Sweat it out.

If you’re not convinced, here are seven reasons why every mom needs a gym membership.

  1. Stress relief

Being a mom is stressful, especially when your kids are still toddlers and need your attention all the time. You also have piling laundry and dishes to wash, not to mention your kid who’s starting primary school. As a mom, you need to breathe fresh air.

Exercise is the ultimate form of stress release. When you go to the gym and exercise, your body reduces the levels of the body’s stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline. It also wards off the feeling of anxiety. On the other hand, it releases endorphins which are chemicals in the brain that are natural pain killers. Endorphins are also happy hormones that promote positive feeling like pleasure and happiness. This is why after a workout, you probably feel calm and uplifted.

  1. Health and fitness

The health benefits of being physically active are already obvious. These maybe are the main reasons why people go to the gym –  they want to be fit and healthy.

Regular exercise helps manage health problems like stroke and high blood pressure. When you’re actively exercising, it increases the good cholesterol in your body and decreases the unhealthy ones. It also keeps your blood flowing well, avoiding the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

  1. Self-care

Sweating off in the gyms gives you an uninterrupted time, a time to take care of yourself. It’s an activity that makes your mind and body feel good. And doing what is best for your total well being is important not just for yourself but in maintaining a healthy relationship with your family.

In addition to the health benefits you gain from exercising, you also experience its main psychological benefit which is improved self-esteem. Exercising makes you feel better. Your mood improves, and you feel confident about yourself.

  1. Meeting other moms

Every mom needs a mom friend. When you’re staying at home for a long time, you need to get outside once in a while and have adult interaction. It’s important for mom’s emotional health to talk about grown-up things and vent out to someone. Who doesn’t need to complain about the things on your hands? Of course, you have your husband, but hey, he becomes busy also. And let’s admit it, he’s not always interested to listen.

Going to the gym is a social thing. You get to know other people, other moms like you. A mom friend who helps you get motivated, especially with working out. Although you feel lazy about going out or your muscles are still sore, you still get up. Sweating up with your mom’s friends surely gives you a boost.

  1. Energy booster

Regular exercise boosts your endurance and improves your muscle strength. Additionally, endorphins make you feel more energised and increase the oxygen levels in your blood. Working out also strengthens the circulation of this oxygen in your body which allows your cardiovascular system to work more efficiently.

With the improved heart and lung conditions due to regular exercise, you will surely have more energy to do your daily chores. You would even have enough to chase your kids around and spend some quality time with your husband.

  1. Better sleep

Moms are usually denied sleep. Even as you sleep, the young ones would crawl over you or you would need to feed them. Sometimes you still try to finish other tasks at night because that’s your only time available.

When being physically active by working out, you rest better. Exercise promotes better sleep by improving the quality and duration of your sleep. You sleep faster and you get a deep one.

  1. Role model

When you treat your body right by exercising, your kids will see it. You are showing to them that it’s important to get their butt off and exercise, that they too should practice a healthy lifestyle and self-care. When they see you going to the gym, it can also make way for a good conversation about being fit.

Kids watch your every move and imitate what they are seeing. Make sure you’re modelling a healthy lifestyle to them.
