The satisfaction of finally getting your house in order after finding a million little messes can’t be beaten. But then, things quickly get out of place, and everything is back where you started. Frustrating, right?
While you might feel that this is simply the life that you are doomed to as a homeowner, but that is not the case!
Using these classic organisational tips, you’ll be able to keep your home cleaner for longer all while doing less work. Here’s how to do it.
Tip #1: Use Organisational Tools To Your Advantage
If you’re constantly finding that you need to rearrange the coat closet, put shoes away, or find places for all the kids’ toys, it’s time to invest in some organisational tools that will make these tasks a normal part of every day rather than a weekly cleaning task.
Find containers for toys, racks for shoes, and wooden coat hangers for everyone’s coats and have these things readily available. Start making it a habit for everyone to put their items away with these racks rather than throwing them about.
Gradually, these items will not be left out so they will not become part of the weekly cleaning cycle. Every little bit helps, and these tools will make your life easier!
Tip #2: Create A Home Filing System
One of the things that can be most frustrating about organising your house from day to day is figuring out where to put all the papers that show up! While some papers can be tossed in the bin right away, other needs to be held on to.
But where do you put them? Set up a home filing system, and this problem will be solved.
All you need is a small filing cabinet, a plastic organizer, or a set of baskets. Using stick on name labels, create areas for each member of the family or for each type of document. Depending on the number of people in your household and their ages, one of these methods may work better than the other.
Then, when you get papers, you simply need to look for the correct label before filing the paper away for easy reference in the future. Cleaning up will be easier when you don’t have to sort dozens of papers each week.
Tip #3: Clean Out The Cupboards
Another easy way to make tidying the house a faster process each day is to clean out and organise all cupboards or closets.
Take out what you don’t need. Make empty space that can be filled in the next time you need to store something. Generally, make sure the closets are ready to use, not filled to capacity!
If you have room in your closets and cupboards, you can easily put things away that are out of place without having to find a spot for it. One part of cleaning that takes the longest is finding room for everything to fit, so solve that problem in advance!
