Khao San Road is far from your only option.
One of the most exciting areas of the city is along Sukhumvit Road, particularly in the Phrom Phong, Thonglor and Ekkamai areas. These areas boast great restaurants and bars, an active nightlife, both upscale and bargain shopping, and many hotels and hostels catering to backpackers.
By exploring these areas instead of heading straight for Khao San Road, you’ll find a wealth of accommodations that are well within your budget. You’ll also get an experience that will be more of what the average Bangkok resident experiences.

By breaking out of the same old Khao San Road backpacker’s rut, you’ll return home with new and interesting stories to tell, instead of sounding like every other backpacker who’s seen Bangkok.
