You’ve written down several goals you want to accomplish for the new year, but now what? If you’re afraid you’re going to have a hard time following through and accomplishing the goals, there are steps you can implement that will help you achieve the goals you have in place. Be certain that giving up on your goals is not an option; instead set your mind on the idea that you will follow through thanks to steps and tips that will guide you along the way.
Write Out Small Goals You Can Achieve Daily
One of your problems might be thinking you have to accomplish a goal right away; however, that’s unrealistic thinking because most goals take time! Take school, for example, it’s impossible to get a degree right away, but if you plan out your class schedule and figure out what classes you need to take each semester to get your degree, pretty soon you’ll have a plan in place. If you’re thinking about going into health care and getting a Healthcare Administration MBA, understand that it will take time, but with dedication and careful planning, you will succeed at accomplishing your goals.
Find a Support System
Oftentimes, it is hard enough to accomplish goals on your own, but with a support system, completing tasks one step at a time will seem more feasible. Find a friend who has a similar goal or who has accomplished the same goal in the past. If your goal is to run a half marathon, for example, ask them how they trained for it. They will most likely tell you they started off slow by running one mile a day. Then when they got used to a mile, they added on a mile or two every time the running got easier. Pretty soon, they were running 13 miles, but it took a lot of dedication and practice! Learn from friends and family and you, too, will accomplish any goal you set your mind to.
Make Goals Realistic
It’s easy to write down too many goals and find yourself getting overwhelmed and then not completing any of them. The idea is to write down a few goals that are doable as opposed to writing down too many and not accomplishing any of them. Envision each goal and figure out how long each one will take to carry out. If a single goal will take months, then perhaps just stick with that one goal until it is complete. Overwhelming yourself with too many unrealistic goals will get you nowhere. Instead be realistic yet courageous
