Netbooks Out, Tablets In!

Tablets Are In

Do you have one of the “in” things to have – tablets? Whether it be an iPad, or Hewlett Packard brand, they are definitely the “in” thing to have right now. Do you remember netbooks? Those laptop-like things that were smaller so you could take them anywhere? There used to be a craze for them, but it seems that they have been pushed out for the ultra-slick tablet now – which I am not surprised. To me, netbooks were just too small. I know, tablets aren’t the biggest things either… but they’re easy to stick in your purse or briefcase and take with you, and if you don’t like that they don’t have a keyboard, there’s plenty of accessories made by companies to get you the keyboard you like. Plus, I love how lots of textbook companies are coming out with versions of their material for tablets so that college students don’t have to lug around 600+ page textbooks – so genius!

I have a Kindle Fire. There’s been some debates on whether it’s a tablet or an ebook. To me, it’s both. I use it to read every night (although some people say you shouldn’t read on a backlit screen – I disagree because it allows me to read without having the light on to disturb my husband), plus I use it for games and to browse the internet. I have lots of different apps installed – from a calculator, to educational games for Riley and I to play together, to Angry Birds (who doesn’t have Angry Birds installed on any kind of device?!). I think it is a great low-price alternative to an iPad.

A lot of people go through sites where you can sell your netbook to get money. And a lot of them have used that money to get a tablet. I never had a netbook, so I didn’t have to do this, but I think it’s nice and convenient that you can do this – it’s almost like trading in your car to get a new model… or basically the same idea, in my opinion.

Have you ever sold your netbook through a website, like Music Magpie, to get an iPad or any other type of tablet? Are you glad you did? I’d love to hear about your experience!
