Being asked to be someone’s maid of honor is an incredible feeling. You get to be there for your best friend as she prepares for the biggest day of her life and then stand next to her while she takes her vows. It also comes with a large amount of responsibility, though. From planning the bachelorette party to helping plan the wedding, not to mention handling all those day-of mishaps, you will have your hands full for a while.

Another item on the maid of honor to-do list is that of organizing and throwing the bridal shower. While the general concept is easy enough, you want to make sure that this is a day where your friend gets to feel the love and support and her close friends and family in the lead-up to her big day.

Here are four things that will help you to give your friend the bridal shower she deserves.

1. A Bartender

It might sound a little over-the-top, but hiring mobile bartenders is a must if you know that the guestlist for the bridal shower is going to be long. You don’t want to risk not having enough beverages to go around, and it is such an inconvenience to have everyone gathered in the kitchen mixing their own drinks. Furthermore, a bartender will add a bit of flair and class to the party that the bride-to-be will surely appreciate.

2. Pick a Fun Theme

By now, you very likely know the theme of the wedding that your friend is planning, and while it is a good idea to incorporate some elements of that theme into the bridal shower, you want this to be its own event. Pick a theme that complements that of the wedding, but that will also be fun for all the ladies attending the shower. You can plan some games to fit the theme so that everyone has an entertaining and memorable time.

3. Plan the Menu

Depending on the time of day that you are planning to hold the bridal shower, you might only need to provide finger foods and appetizers. Even if the shower is planned for a time that will coincide with a meal, you are better off making such foods that people can graze on as they please.

Make sure that you include at least one each of a meat option, a vegetable one, and some sort of carb. You can keep these foods simple by going for fresh ingredients that have lots of flavors. Some crowd pleasers include a veggie and dip tray, a fresh fruit salad, and classic deviled eggs. Don’t forget plenty of sweet treats as well.

4. Keep It Personal

You know your best friend better than most people, so you will have the best ideas about how to keep things personal to her. That is why she picked you for this important job. Find ways to incorporate things like her favorite flowers and music. Whenever you are in doubt, it is best to clear things with her ahead of time.
