How to collaborate with food brands?” This is one of the most common questions that upcoming influencers ask themselves. If you are here reading this post, that means you have taken that baby step towards your career as an influencer. So, hearty congratulations first of all.

Doesn’t matter whether you are a YouTube influencer, Instagram influencer, or Facebook Influencer. A pitch is a pitch.

When is the right time to collaborate with a brand?

Approaching brands for collaboration a little early may result in disappointment. Brands will take a vague look at your social media account and discard you as an influencer as they don’t see anything worthy that you can offer them. Wondering why and how?

-> First, make sure to reach 1,000 followers at least (Honestly, having 1,000 followers is not really a big thing as it won’t be enough for most brands. 4,000 is an interesting number for brands to take a genuine interest in you.). Nevertheless, you got to start somewhere.
-> Your followers have to share your post, like, and comment to make your post engaging.
-> Your posts should in trending/top posts.
-> You should be operating your account frequently.

Make short intro videos with brand products and mention the brand’s official page and their social media accounts. Share this video to your social media platforms and tag brand pages with the brand hashtags. If you don’t expertise in creating short intro videos for promotion then use online video editing tools or download the free intro maker app on your phone to create stunning videos.

Now that you’re ready to be an influencer or already one, one of the two things may happen. Either you may pitch a brand operating in your niche first or they reach out to you. Either way, you have to consider putting yourself first and ask for your value from the brand. But how do you pitch a brand that could result in getting a “Yes”? Well, we’ll tell you how.

Top 5 things to consider before you collaborate with a food brand

? Let them know what you’re pitching for. For example, “Collaboration with your brand for an Instagram post.”
? Provide them your blog and social media account details (Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook). Just think that you’re introducing yourself and sharing your digital media presence.
? Tell them why you think their brand and products are the right fit and give them a reason why they should work with you.
? Share your social media page statistics such as views for your blog, posts, how many followers you have, etc.
? Big or small, known or unknown brand. If you have worked with any brand previously, make sure to include relevant links and videos of the same. If you haven’t then just include whatever you think could positively influence the brand to work with you.

The above pitch was for scenario one. That is when you reach out to the brand for collaboration. But what to do when the brand reaches out to you first?

? First, thank them for reaching out to you and considering you as their brand influencer.
? Express how interested you are in working with them and the collaboration.
? Ask them about the deliverables and turnaround time.
? You could either ask them for their budget or tell them how much you charge.
? Share your social media page statistics like views and comments on the blog, followers, etc.
? Show them your previous work if you could. If you don’t have anything show, you could just share the recent work that you created for yourself.

Find the brand or product you want to work with

As you already know the niche you want to work in, you now have to search for the brands or products that like to work with. You can either simply Google or search on Instagram to find brands based on your niche. If you already have a few brands in mind that you love to work for, just note it. See if you could find other influencers or bloggers who are working in the same niche as you and with whom they are working.

Rather than 20 or 30-year old established brands, try to pitch local or startup brands as there is a high likelihood of you landing the brand.

How to reach out to the brands?

9 out of 10 brands will have a website. Go to their contact us page and look for contact IDs. A few brands mention separate IDs for collaborations. If you didn’t find one, search for the brand on social media platforms and directly reach out to them via message to check if they are open to collaboration. Make sure to sound polite in your message.

For example, “Hi, there! I have an interesting idea for a possible brand collaboration. Could you please help with the PR contact number or email ID to discuss further on same? Appreciate your time. Have a great day.”

You could include your previous work in the same message to get them interested in the collaboration. Also, talk about how interested you are in collaborating with them and how much you like their products.

Don’t forget

Big or small, national or international, brands are super busy. They get a ton of emails on collaborations from different influencers and different brands. So don’t send them your curriculum vitae. Remember, keep it short and simple for them to read and get back to you either with a yes or no as soon as possible.
