Bathroom routines are a sensitive subject, and most of us are born into practicing one certain way. Unfortunately for all of us, not everyone can agree on what the best method is. Bidets are toilets that have an oscillating nozzle that is typically mounted on the wall near the toilet bowl but may also be installed beside the toilet, below or above it, or even on the ceiling of a bathroom. Bidets are different from typical toilets in that they are not attached to the bowl itself. A woman bidet works by directing water over the lower colon. They usually have a nozzle mounted at an angle that administers cleaning or cleaning and deodorizing products to a sit-on toilet seat that is attached to the wall for more complete cleaning.
What Is A Bidet Toilet?
Before we explain how to use a bidet toilet, let’s talk about what one actually is. A bidet toilet is a device that cleans the user’s genitals by spraying water and/or using other methods to clean. You may have heard them called bidets or washlets, but those are just nicknames for the device that most closely resembles the device it is named after. The name bidet is mostly used when referring to the toilet, though.
When Was Bidet Toilets First Installed?
In America, bidets were installed in homes in the 1970s, and they have largely been accepted as a staple of modern life ever since. In Japan, though, bidet toilets have been standard for much longer than that. Japan has had bidets in bathrooms since the 1920s, and many of these toilet devices have been around for over 100 years.
Bidet Toilet Installation
Most bidets are attached to toilets with flanges for attaching standard pipe fittings. The bidet nozzle is usually connected to the water supply through a standard ball valve. Some bidets have a water tank that is filled by gravity via the overflow of the toilet tank, or by means of a pump that pumps water from the toilet tank directly into the bidet’s reservoir.
Bidets can be used with any toilet, but should only be used with one-piece toilets. Some toilets have no way of installing bidets on the underside or sides of the toilet bowl, and many do not even have a place to install a bidet. This is because bidets must be installed in a way that does not interfere with the water flushing system and/or the toilet’s drainage system, which may be connected to plumbing above, below, or around the toilet.
How to Use Bidet Toilet Seats Vertically
Step 1: Place your butt on the edge of the bidet seat and sit down slowly.
Step 2: Adjust the height of your seat until it is just high enough for you to sit comfortably on it. It is important that you place your butt over the edge of the bidet so that you effectively control what temperature to use and where to spray.
Step 3: Adjust your arms so that they are in front of you, then bring them to rest against the side of the seat. Be sure not to bend at your elbows or otherwise move in a way that will make this uncomfortable for either yourself or someone else.
Step 4: Lean forward a bit. Don’t lean too far forward, though, because that will cause you to fall down.
Step 5: Let it spray you from front to back until you are thoroughly clean. You may begin by spraying the cream provided by your bidet seat. This is entirely personal preference, but most women prefer sinking into the water and letting it spray them in private as they wash up.
How To Use Bidet Positions
You can use a bidet seat in different positions. Though some people prefer to sit down with their legs pulled up to their chest and others prefer to sit down with their legs spread wide apart, it’s always best to start by sitting in the position that feels most comfortable to you. Then, slowly work your way into the toilet seat as you become comfortable with the position. The bidet seat is a great way to practice your bathroom habits without having to worry about anyone else seeing you.
Bidets are easy to use and especially beneficial for women. Before shopping for a bidet, make sure you research individual needs and that the purchase is going to provide a holistic solution to whatever challenges you might be experiencing.
