We all have those chores we have for some it’s the endless laundry, for others, it might be washing the dishes. They’re annoying and tedious and they never seem to end. But what about the bigger tasks? The things we don’t need to do every day, or even every month, but lurk in the backs of our minds as that thing we need to get done?
Yup, those big tasks can be just as annoying, and sometimes they can be really difficult too. Here are four big tasks that you probably need to tackle in your home, but you might not know when, why or even how.
Cleaning Upholstery
Yes, your couch needs a bath. Think about it, you spend hours upon hours with your butt and your feet all over it, and if you have pets, do we even need to mention the smell?
Without a doubt, your upholstery needs thorough cleaning sometimes too, perhaps once or twice a year. This can be DIY’ed but it’s a task best left to the professionals, especially if your sofa cost you an arm and a leg. Certain fibres are fussy and scrubbing at them with your regular cleaning products might damage them, so rather hire someone. While you’re at it, you can even seek out professional cushion cleaning and storage.
Cleaning Carpets
Carpets are another area of the home that should probably be cleaned professionally, at least once in a while. Similarly to upholstery, professionals will know what types of cleaning agents and equipment to use on your specific carpets in order to best take care of the material and avoid damaging it.
However, if you don’t want to spend that money, there are ways to deep clean your carpets by yourself, as long as you’re careful.
Cleaning the Pantry
The pantry is one of those areas that seems to fall into disrepair only moments after you’ve tidied it up. Half-full chip packets, rice falling out of the bag and probably something expired is always lurking in there. Try to use uniform containers and baskets, and tackle a pantry clean-up session once a month to stay on top of what you’ve got.
Keeping it organised and regularly cleaning it is a great way to maximise space and make sure you’re using what you have instead of constantly buying more and more food (which often goes to waste).
Cleaning Your Appliances
Finally, did you know that your cleaning appliances also need to be… cleaned? Well, they do. Cleaning your washing machine and dishwasher are tasks we often forget about and many of us don’t even know how to do them. However, taking good care of these items will help them last longer and also ensure that your stuff is actually being properly cleaned in there.
Do some research on some safe ways to clean these big appliances, and don’t forget other, smaller appliances in your home too! Ovens, microwaves, and especially that air fryer of yours.
