Beach Packing List for a Turks and Caicos Vacation for Wheelchair Users

Sharing is caring!

Going on vacation is an exciting yet stressful experience, especially for those who travel by wheelchair. If you’re in a wheelchair, you understand how important it is to pack everything you need to make your trip memorable, but you also want to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. If you’re getting ready to travel across the ocean or just a town over for the vacation of your dreams, keep reading to learn about the most important things you’ll need to pack as a person who uses a wheelchair.

Batteries

It goes without saying that if you use an electric wheelchair, you must bring your extra batteries and charging units. You can also check out the benefits of using a portable charger rather than taking your larger batteries and chargers to make things a little easier for yourself. It can be frustrating to be confined to your room while everyone else is enjoying the sights because you need to charge your chair, so make sure you put batteries at the top of your packing list, so they’re not accidentally left behind.

Shower Chair

While many hotels include shower chairs in their accessible rooms, many don’t. Assuming that you’d like to shower comfortably while you’re on vacation, it’s recommended that you bring your shower chair from home in case the hotel doesn’t provide that accommodation. Unfortunately, shower chairs can be extremely bulky and heavy, making them difficult to travel with. Luckily, TripAdvisor has some great ideas for alternative shower chairs, so you don’t have to lug yours on the plane with you.

Medications

No matter how well you think you’ve prepared, there’s always a chance that you’ll leave something important behind. Your medications should be the first thing you pack, but there are a couple of other items you must remember before going on vacation. First, you should always bring extra medication in case something comes up that extends the length of your trip. Second, keep your medication in your carry-on to avoid losing your medication in one of your checked baggage. You can also give your pharmacy a heads-up that you’re going on vacation if you need them for something while you’re gone.

Clothing

If you’re planning a trip to a Turks and Caicos resort, planning your outfits should be a top priority. Even though you’re heading to a tropical destination, you should always pack for any type of weather. Packing for any weather includes having clothes for when you get cold and summer dresses or a bathing suit to enjoy the sun. Being comfortable is imperative when you’re on vacation, so remember to bring your favorite pajamas with you.

Personal Care

It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, taking care of yourself is an absolute necessity. When you’re traveling, you want to stay refreshed at all times. If you’re going to a tropical place, you can bet on the fact that you’re going to sweat a little bit, so make sure you throw some wet wipes into your bag before you leave. You also want to remember your shampoo, conditioner, and toothbrush, so make sure you purchase or use a bag that you already have to keep all your toiletries in one place.

No one wants to pay for a vacation if they’re going to have less than an exceptional time. Vacations are a time to relax and enjoy your time; they’re not a time to stress and be uncomfortable. If you use a wheelchair to get around, follow these simple steps to ensure you’re taken care of while you’re away. Also, if you need clarification on any of the hotel accommodations, give the hotel a call, and they’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you have.
