Bottoms Up! How to Make a Green Tea Shot

Sharing is caring!

Don’t be fooled by its name – this shot doesn’t really have green tea in it. The green tea shot is among the many cocktails that are dubbed for their attributes, which can be misleading. Fortunately, it still tastes pretty good! It is called as such because of the light green hue it gets from the combination of its ingredients. Even with the absence of tea, this shot is still a contender because it makes a great party drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Irish Whisky
  • 1 oz. Peach Schnapps
  • 1 oz. Sour Mix
  • Lemon-lime soda (to top)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twists (garnish; optional)

Tools Needed

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Jigger
  • Shot glasses
  • Cocktail Strainer

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Measure the ingredients, except for the lemon-lime soda, and combine them in the cocktail shaker.
  3. Cover, then shake for 5 -10 seconds.
  4. Strain into a shot glass two-thirds of the way.
  5. Top it off with lemon-lime soda.
  6. Garnish.

Green Tea Shot Recipe Variations

If you prefer to indulge in your drinks rather than shoot them instantly, you can transform the green tea shot into a cocktail. All you need to do is shake the mixture a bit longer to get some water dilution and top it off with more lemon-lime soda.

If you want a variety of shots to serve at your next party, you can also try the Blue Kamikaze shot, and Purple Hooter shot. Both feature vodka and showcase mesmerizing colors.

How Strong is a Green Tea Shot?

Surprisingly, a green tea shot is more on the mellow and sweet side and has an alcohol percentage of approximately 18%. Be careful, though, because the booze may not take effect on the first shot, but you will definitely feel it the fifth time or so.

What Does It Taste Like?

Don’t get disappointed if the shot doesn’t involve green tea because it has other good components. It is usually made with Jameson Irish whisky, which is why it is sometimes called Jameson green tea shot.

Irish whisky is quite different from American whiskey, but it’s good in its own right and has sweet and spicy notes with a hint of oak. To add peach schnapps to it mellows it down even more, and the sour mix and lemon-lime soda add a pleasant citrus fragrance and tanginess. Overall, it is a refreshing and fruity shot that makes any occasion extraordinary.

Conclusion

Green tea shot is easy to make and features lovely ingredients that make up a good drink that you shouldn’t miss. What do you think about this recipe? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
