So far, I have shared with you a tutorial for adorable Minion Marshmallow Pops and a super cute Despicable Me Cake and now I have these Despicable Me Minion Cookies to add to your Despicable Me treats! They are so cute, require simple supplies, and are fairly easy to make!
Despicable Me – Minion Cookies
Supplies:
- Batch Of Your Favorite Sugar Cookies Cut Into 3″ Circles and Baked
- 3″ Circle Cookie Cutter
- Prepared Yellow Fondant
- Prepared White Fondant
- Prepared Black Fondant
- Vanilla
- Black Gel Food Coloring
- Prepared Buttercream Frosting
- Parchment Paper
- Silicone Rolling Pin
- Sharp Knife
- Small Paint Brush
Instructions:
Allow cookies to cool completely before decorating.
While the cookies are cooling, roll the yellow fondant out on parchment paper to approximately 1/8″ thick. Carefully cut the fondant into circles using the 3″ circle cookie cutter.
Once the cookies have cooled completely, spread a thin layer of buttercream frosting over each cookie and lay the yellow fondant circle on top. Gently smooth the fondant onto the cookie.
Roll out the black fondant on parchment paper and using your sharp knife, cut into strips approximately 3/4″ wide. Use the 3″ circle cookie cutter to cut the strips to fit each cookie. Add the black strips to the yellow circle, using a small amount of buttercream to attach them.
Roll marble sized pieces of white fondant between your palms and press flat to create the white eyes for each minion. Give some minions 2 and some only 1. Add the eyes to the black bands with buttercream.
In a small bowl, combine a teaspoon of vanilla with a pea size amount of black gel food coloring. Stir until it is well blended. This makes a food coloring paint.
Using a small paint brush, paint on the vanilla and food coloring paint to add black pupils to the eyes, a smile onto the yellow, and some hair above the eyes. Let all your minions have their own personalities and be a little bit different.
And that’s it! Covering cookies with fondant is easy and quick. It’s a fun alternative to a royal icing or other frosting options. It keeps the cookie moist, tastes great, and lets you get really creative!
I’m a 20-something stay-at-home mother and wife. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful daughter, two loving dogs, and a lazy cat. I wouldn’t change my life for anything! I love to read, listen to music, cook and blog!
These cookies look amazing. We went to the Despicable Me ride at Universal Studios when it first opened. My daughter is a huge fan.
