I think I have found my new favorite movie. And that movie is Disney Pixar’s Inside Out! After seeing a prescreening last week with my family we have fallen in love with it! After reading my review, make sure to go out and see it in theaters this weekend!
Inside Out is all about a little girl named Riley and her emotions, Joy, Sadness, Digust, Fear, and Anger. These emotions live at Headquarters, which is where the control center for Riley’s mind is and they advise her through her every day life. After Riley and her family move to San Francisco, there is turmoil in Headquarters. All of the emotions have to work together to adjust to this new life.
I have fallen in love with Inside Out. Part of that may be because the main character’s name is my daughter, but it’s also because I love how Disney Pixar has brought emotions to life through this movie and have brought us another beautiful story. My husband and I laughed and cried. My daughter laughed so much and it was touching to see her get sad when Riley was sad too. I think that Inside Out will really help parents and children talk about emotions more openly. I have to be honest – I love this movie just as much as I’ve loved Finding Nemo! And that’s saying a lot because Finding Nemo is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Here’s a few fun facts about the movie for you:
- The background memories on shelves inside or outside of Headquarters are shots from the “Married Life” scene in Up.
- The glove in Riley’s classroom have been used in all of the Toy Story films.
- Some of the background city cars in San Francisco have bumper stickers from Cars.
- As a tribute to the Walt Disney Family Museum, the filmmakers set Riley’s hockey rink in the exact spot the museum is located in San Francisco.
And I can’t mention Inside Out without mentioning the adorable LAVA short that is before the movie! Directed by James Ford Murphy and produced by Andrea Warren, LAVA is inspired by the beauty of tropical islands and the allure of ocean volcanoes. It’s a sweet love story that takes palce over millions of years. It is short that shouldn’t be missed, so make sure you get your popcorn and drinks before the movie starts!
To celebrate the release of Inside Out, I’m excited to bring some fun activities that you can do with your family!
