How Soon Can I Exercise After Plastic Surgery?

Sharing is caring!

If you’re thinking about plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, you’ve no doubt got a lot on your mind beyond the surgery itself. You’re probably wondering if you’ll get the results you want, for instance, and how long your recovery will take.

If you’re living the active Beverly Hills lifestyle, you’re probably also wondering how quickly you can get back to your workout program.

Take It Easy at First

You should be as inactive as possible for the first 48 hours after your surgery. That doesn’t mean that you can’t get up or eat anything, but you should not exert yourself any more than necessary.

You’ll probably have low energy for a week or two after the surgery, and you should take it easy during this period. Beyond this period, your workouts will be dictated by the type of surgery you had.

Liposuction

Three weeks after your plastic surgery procedure in Beverly Hills, you can start walking along the Beverly Gardens Park path or doing other light cardio exercises. If you use a treadmill, set it to slow. You could also use a stationary bike if you keep it slow. You will still have to wear your compression garment during exercise until your doctor tells you to stop.

After two weeks of light cardio, you will be able to start more vigorous exercises like running and weight lifting, though you should take it easy at first and slowly ease back into them.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

You need a lot more healing after this one. You can’t start light cardio until four weeks after the procedure and need to stick to light cardio for another four weeks, slowly working up to moderate cardio. Then you may be able to start light resistance training for a couple more weeks and only then get back into core work. It takes a while, even after that, to get back into your old routine.

Facial Rejuvenation

If you’ve had a facelift, brow lift, or any other kind of facial rejuvenation procedure, you will need to avoid doing anything that raises your heart rate for at least four weeks after the procedure.

You do not want to rush this, or you could rupture blood vessels in your face. After that, you can probably do light cardio for two weeks. You might be back to yoga after six weeks. More intense workouts can take longer.

Breast Lift

Once you recover your energy, you can start lower body exercises. Upper body exercises will have to be avoided for at least four weeks.

Breast Augmentation

Recovery takes longer for this one as well. You’ll need to avoid using your pectoral muscles for at least four weeks. That means no pushing car doors shut, no carrying heavy purses, no doing anything that risks damaging your already damaged pecs.

During this period, you should be able to do lower body exercises.

Remember

Everybody heals at their own rate, and each surgery has its own issues. Always follow your doctor’s instructions if you want to heal properly and get back to your workout as soon as possible.
