Walking Tour of Wooster Ohio

I am excited to share more about my trip to Wooster, Ohio in December with you today! After checking into the St. Paul Hotel and eating lunch at Broken Rocks Cafe, we went on a walking tour to some of the great shops in downtown Wooster, Ohio.

Local Roots Market and Cafe Wooster OH -01

Our first stop was at the Local Roots Market and Cafe. I instantly fell in love with this place because of all the great items from artisans, farmers, bakers, and more. Everything in this market and cafe is local from Ohio. It is considered a producer/consumer co-op, so can become a member, which has many perks. All of the workers are volunteers – and by volunteering at least 10 hours, your membership cost is paid for. If you don’t want to become a member and just want to shop, you can do that too! The cafe is a pretty cool place that has a different menu daily. All of the meats, eggs, dairy, breads, and most of the produce are sourced from small, local producers. One of my favorite parts of the cafe is the Pay It Forward containers, which you can see pictured above.

Motts Olive Oils Wooster OH -01

Next up was Motts Oils & More. Here you can find all kinds of flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars. And guess what? You can taste all of them! I never thought about trying olive oils and vinegars straight before, so that was definitely different.

I fell in love with the All Natural Tuscan Herb Infused EVOO, so I bought a big bottle to take home. I also purchased a small bottle of chipotle infused EVOO for my husband, who love it.

Motts Oils & More would definitely be a great place to get unique olive oils and balsamic vinegars for the foodies in your life!

The Faithful Little Cupcake Wooster OH -01

Our third stop (and one of the most important, I think), was a trip to The Faithful Little Cupcake! Mmmm… just thinking about the cupcakes makes my mouth water! The Faithful Little Cupcake opened up in 2010 and have three locations in Wayne Country, Ohio. They specialize in cupcakes, wedding cakes, specialty cakes, cookies, brownies, and now Coblentz Chocolates. The Faithful Little Cupcake Wooster OH -02

I bought four yummy cucakes to bring home:

  • Oreo Sundae – Chocolate cake with Oreo buttercream icing
  • White Chocolate Peppermint – White almond sour cream cake with white andes mint baked in mint buttercream
  • Red Velvet – Red velvet cake with cream cheese icing
  • Birthday Cake – White almond sour cream cake with buttercream icing and sprinkles

My husband and daughter loved all of them. My favorite was a tie between the Oreo Sundae and Birthday Cake. So yummy! Make sure to check out this long list of other flavors that they have.

Everything Rubbermaid Store Wooster OH

The Everything Rubbermaid store is MASSIVE! It opened in 1993 and has floor floors. The first floor has sheds and patio storage items. The second is full of home organization, cleaning, coolers, food storage, and Calphalon bakeware. The third floor has Rubbermaid garbage cans, as well as Step2 toys. And the fourth floor is their Bargainland. Obsolete items are found here at a reduced price. I was very impressed with this store!

Spoon Market Wooster OH -01Spoon Market and Deli

is a great little place in downtown Wooster that has a butcher, baker, as well as a deli. You can purchase wine, craft beer, food and other goodies. Oh, and they also deliver and cater!

While visiting, we got to meet the professional meat cutter of Louie’s Local Meats in the back of Spoon Market, Adam Nussbaum. They provide a great variety of beef, pork and chicken, as well as family-recipe sausage and seasonal specialties. He was super friendly – I would love it if he were my local neighborhood butcher!

JAFB Wooster Brewer Ohio -01

After an hour or so of rest at the St. Paul Hotel, we met back at JAFB Brewery. It was a little cool, but tolerable that night, so we walked the few blocks from the hotel to the brewery. This local brewery has a great selection of beers on tap. The atmosphere in JAFB is great. We were there on a night when The Chardon Polka Band was playing, which was really fun. The place was packed. They don’t serve food, so you are able to bring food in. There were people who had brought pizzas and other items in.JAFB Wooster Brewer Ohio -02

I’m not a huge craft beer lover, but I tried the Wayne Co. Cream Ale – and loved it! I told my husband and dad about JAFB, and they are excited to take a trip to Wooster and go here.
