Sharing is caring!

Kids who are afraid of pets need to have a way of getting over that fear that is as natural as possible.  You do not want to force your kids to love pets or be near them, but there are ways that you can help you kids if you are using the steps listed below.  Each step that you find here can completely change how your kids relate to pets. You might finally have a chance for your family to get a pet because that makes it possible for all of you to be enriched by a pet who will be like a member of the family.

  1.  Go Slow

You have to go slow no matter what you are going.  Vets that specialise in rats and mice often tell people to go slow by going to a place where kids can pet an animal that they do not need to hold.  This is a good time for kids to get to do something that is going to not last that long. Plus, you will find that you could easily get your kids to do these little things here and there that are good for them.  For the most part, you can go to places where people have small pets, go to the pet store to pet small animals, and be careful of animals that are very big.

  1.  Go To The Park

You should go to the park with your kids so that they can run into pets in a very natural setting.  You do not even need to interact with these pets because they could just run by while your kid is looking on.  This is a good way for you to normalize how you are acting around pets. The more that you do this, the more that you can get your kids to feel normal around animals.  You also need to find a park that is not known for having dogs everywhere. You want to find a place where you can run past the animals just so that your kids get an idea of what it is like to be around these animals.

  1.  Hold An Animal

You can get your kids to hold an animal, and you will find that you could easily get them to normalize the idea that they can hold a small animals.  This does not mean that a kid will need to be responsible for the pet, but they would have a chance to interact with the pet. This is something that people need to consider when they are hoping to make their kids learn how to deal with animals.  There are a lot of people who would like to make sure that their kids have at least held an animal.

  1.  Be Consistent

You must be consistent as a parent when you are trying to get your kids to love animals.  Using these tips will help your kids fall in love with animals, and you will get much better results when you are consistent about your engagement with animals.

  1. Yeah, I think so too, consistency is the key just like practice makes perfect. My niece is afraid of cats, I don’t know why so I introduce him to Brandy, our cat, and I’m taking it slow, one day at a time, the other day, he got to pat the tummy. Maybe next time around he’s ready to carry Brandy.
