Fried Portobello Mushroom Recipe

Fried Portobello Mushroom Recipe | Optimistic Mommy

My family and I are huge mushrooms lovers.  We love them in spaghetti sauce, salads, and just eating them by themselves.  There used to be a restaurant near us called Bill Knapp’s that had the best fried portobello mushrooms.  Unfortunately they closed quite a few years back.  The other day, after seeing some portobello mushrooms for a decent price, I decided to try my hand at making my own friend portobello mushrooms!

Fried Portobello Mushroom Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Portobello Mushrooms
  • Flour
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 Eggs
  • Oil For The Deep Fryer

Directions:

  1. Place a bottle of oil in the deep fryer and start it up, or put the oil in a Dutch oven over medium on the stove.
  2. Put 1 cup of flour in 1 bowl, 1 cup of Parmesan cheese in another bowl, and beat 2 eggs in a separate bowl.
  3. Slice your portobello mushrooms, if they aren’t already. First dip your sliced mushrooms in the flour, then the egg mixture, then in the Parmesan cheese. Put on a plate until ready to deep fry. Refill the flour and Parmesan cheese as needed until all of the mushrooms are coated.
  4. Place the coated mushrooms in the fry basket or in the Dutch oven. Fry for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown.

These mushrooms are a perfect appetizer for any get-togethers you have coming up, or just because!  I love the crispiness of them, and the added flavor of Parmesan cheese is amazing!  These will definitely be made again and again in our household!  I hope that you enjoy them as much as we did!
