Has COVID-19 Revisted Our Relationship With Online Groceries?

Sharing is caring!

Frankly speaking, a lot of us are quite picky when it comes to buying our groceries. In fact, this is one the most important domestic chores for a lot of us. We’d make a list with all variables of one item and spend much time choosing our favorite item out of a variety in the store. But coronavirus has redefined our whole lifestyle now and groceries is one of them.

Only a couple of months ago, who’d have thought that the whole world would dramatically shut down and we will step out only when there’s an emergency? It’s been around 4-months now since the first wave of COVID-19 came and the masses around the entire globe are still scared to go back to their old routine.

It wouldn’t be untrue to say the virus has revisited our relationship with a lot of things in life and groceries tops them all. People have shifted to finding online solutions to everything and why not? After all, the sanctity of human life is above everything. According to the Brick Meets Click/Mercatus Grocery Survey, online stores saw a surge in sales by 24% making it 6.6 billion dollars. The Brick Meet Click’s continuously monitoring the sudden shift in consumer behavior and according to its finding, only in April, online orders increased by 18% as the number was 62.5million before, making it 72.5million mow.

A fast growing number of households are opting for online groceries, either delivery or pick up. Sylvain Perrier, president and CEO, Mercatus says the market was not expecting such an accelerated adoption of online groceries orders. It seems like the buyers have realised the significance of online shopping. In the pre-COVID era, customers did not purchase an item again from the same retailer within 30-days but the behavior has now changed. They’re coming back for the same items from the same retailers sooner now.

The public also saw a new trend of mobile stores amidst social distancing. A store in Canada has started a semi-opened truck with grocery items that customers can come maintaining SOPs and social distancing and grab whatever the goods they need. This was a total never seen before trend that speaks a lot about redefining shopping ideas.

Quite similar is the case of Oasis online groceries in Melbourne which is redefining our relationship with food and groceries in the Coronavirus era. The company offers great valuable deals of groceries and fresh cooked food. Having the services of a unique chef, Oasis has a solution to your major meals of the day in such times of crisis.

The world has become chaotic and unsure and this is when the opportunity opens its door as well. Seemingly, the virus has made us all reconsider the way we did shopping before. While a niche based market on wheels is a contemporary idea, we are expected to see the birth of a whole array of new shopping fashions soon.
