Helpful Tips to Keep Your Blood Pressure Within the Normal Range

Sharing is caring!

A blood pressure of 120/80 is critical to maintaining good health. Having high blood pressure or hypertension for an extended period can cause permanent damage to the heart, kidneys, brain and other types of debilitating complications. Unfortunately, one out of three adults have borderline to full-blown hypertension, and it needs a solution right away. If you also happen to suffer from high blood pressure here are some tips that you can use to lower it effectively.

Medicines

If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure and given maintenance medicine by your physician, it is best to take it religiously to avoid complications such as heart attack and strokes. These medicines are designed to lower blood pressure through different methods. Diuretics stimulate urination and help get rid of excess salt in the body. While ACE Inhibitors stop the body from producing a substance that causes the blood vessels to tighten that results in lower blood pressure. Make sure to complete a medical workup with your physician before taking any medication.

Relaxation

Staying away from activities and situations that can cause you stress and anxiety helps a lot to lower your blood pressure. You may spend some time in enclosed steam shower cabins to improve your overall blood circulation and well-being. The steam goes through your capillaries and helps expand blood vessels therefore significantly lowering blood pressure. You may do this for at least three times a week.

There are also other activities that can help you relax such as going to the beach, listening to mellow music, having a massage or reading a good book. A little peace can calm your nerves and senses which can result in lower blood pressure.

Diet

Instead of ordering fast food like burgers, pizza, fries, and hotdogs you can choose to eat healthier foods that are high in potassium such as bananas, potatoes, beans, vegetables, milk and tuna fish.

Also, it is essential to maintain a low sodium diet to significantly decrease your blood pressure especially if you are prone to water retention. It is better to make wise food choices so that you won’t end up taking lifetime medications which are costly.

Exercise

Doing any physical activity for at least 45 minutes three times a week is highly encouraged to help maintain healthy blood pressure levels. You can do some brisk walking, jogging, aerobics and other low impact exercises that are easy to follow and incorporate into your lifestyle. Exercising regularly is known to help strengthen heart muscles and improve your blood circulation resulting in lower blood pressure.

Stop smoking

Cigarettes, in general, are harmful to your health. Smoking causes a lot of long-term side effects such as lung cancer, emphysema, heart disease, and stroke. Aside from nicotine, one cigarette is made up of thousands of harmful ingredients and carcinogens that can cause irreversible damage to the heart which can significantly contribute to high blood pressure.

Although it is convenient to manage your blood pressure through Online Heart Medications, it is still important to lead a healthier lifestyle because prevention is better than cure.
