Did you know that in Nepal boys as young as 7-years-old are being forced to have children early and drop out of school to support their new families? This is all according to the poverty-fighting group CARE in a new report titled “Dads Too Soon: The Child Grooms of Nepal” that helps shed light on this issue.

I couldn’t imagine having a child that young that is forced to become a parent. It just breaks my heart thinking about that. But unfortunately it’s a reality for many young boys and families. CARE wants to help spread awareness. They are a leading humanitarian organization that is working to fight global poverty. A former child groom, Pannilal Yadev was so young he barely remembers it, but he is angry and resentful that marriage forced him to abandon school. Pannilal now works with CARE to fight child marriage in Nepal.

CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty with a commitment to empowering women and girls. CARE is committed to its mission to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world. CARE seeks a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and people live in dignity and security.

CARE facilitates lasting change by:

  • Strengthening capacity for self-help
  • Providing economic opportunity
  • Delivering relief in emergencies
  • Influencing policy decisions at all levels
  • Addressing discrimination in all its forms

CARE

urges everyone who thinks 7-year-old boys should not have their childhood taken from them use CARE’s Congressional action portal to quick reach out to their members of Congress and remind them to support the people and organizations fighting child marriage. I urge you to please visit CARE’s website to read more and help take action. No young child should be forced to have children and leave school. Imagine if it was your child.

  1. How can a parent want this for their child? I’m promoting this campaign as well as it’s important to me to end this. I clicked through. You can visit my post at https://sandytoescreations.com/end-child-marriage/
