Hormone Balancing for a Naturally Better Life

In today’s busy life, it is easy for our bodies to become out of sync. We eat fast, live even faster, and our bodies become train stations for unhealthy chemicals that break up our body’s own natural balance. Our hormones are often victims of this battle.

If you are suffering hormone imbalance, you will notice symptoms like rapid weight gain, increased blood sugar levels, thirst, and reduced libido to name a few. According to Dominique Fradin Read, MD at VitaLife in Los Angeles, hormones can have a substantial effect on your mental, physical, and emotional health. When your body is no longer balanced, your endocrine system no longer produces the right amounts of the hormones you need. This can lead to a severe domino effect.

It is recommended that you follow a balanced diet, pursue an active lifestyle, and take the necessary supplements to help you produce the right amounts of the hormones that govern your body processes. Here are some basics you can improve on today to have better hormone health:

  • Eat Protein-Rich Meals

Proteins are the building blocks of amino acids, which in turn create hormones. You do not need to be a guru of hormone balancing to understand that without the basics, you will be sorely lacking in hormones. Protein helps to produce hormones that control appetite, which helps control your weight, making it a win-win situation. Aim for a minimum of 20-30 grams of protein per meal to meet your basic protein needs.

  • Exercise

Going for a daily run is not only good for your muscles and calms your mind, but it also helps to decrease insulin levels in your body. This is great since insulin resistance and oversaturation can lead to a slew of health problems. When your body produces too much insulin hormone, it can lead to inflammation, heart disease, kidney failure, and many other health challenges. Combine at least 30 minutes of daily aerobics and resistance exercise to gain optimal benefits.

  • Stop Stressing

While it may seem obvious, our stress levels can be the end of us. When our bodies are flooded with Cortisol (the stress hormone), we begin to suffer cravings and overindulge as a result. High levels of cortisol are also linked to insomnia, high blood pressure, and diabetes. In addition, high cortisol levels can have a negative effect on cognitive functioning. This is why you become forgetful when you are stressed.

Too much cortisol can also cause a disease known as Cushing syndrome. This is when you gain weight rapidly, are prone to bruising, and constantly feel fatigued. While cortisol is only one of many hormones responsible for maintaining your body’s systems, it is one that can do the most damage if left unbalanced.

Consulting with an endocrinologist or hormone expert can be the first step you should make. An expert physician can recommend a range of hormone replacement therapies to help your body where you suffer a hormone deficiency. Following a diet rich in ginseng and evening primrose oil can also be helpful.
