How to Cancel Out Your Holiday Overindulgence Guilt

Many of us overindulge during the holidays, and we are left with a few added pounds and a lot of guilt. Fortunately, there are some things that you can do to get back on track. Here’s how to cancel out your holiday overindulgence guilt.

#1: Join a Gym

A lot of gyms have specials around this time of year. You might be surprised to find that it feels good to exercise. Just make sure you set aside the time to go to the gym so that you don’t make excuses as to why you can’t exercise. If you aren’t comfortable going to the gym, you can find some other ways to exercise. Purchase equipment that you can use at home, go for a run in the evenings, or exercise to online fitness videos.

#2: Adopt Better Eating Habits

If you’re like a lot of people, you ate all sorts of things that you shouldn’t have during the holidays. With all of that delicious food around at work parties and relative’s houses, you probably found it all too easy to overindulge. Fortunately, you can get on track by adopting better eating habits. Cut out junk foods, and opt for fresh fruit and vegetables or low-calorie foods instead. Try to limit eating out, and drink water instead of soda.

#3: Add Supplements to Your Diet

You can easily get back on track by adding supplements to your diet. Vitamins can be very beneficial. B12 can increase your energy levels so that you will be more active. Some herbs like Gymnema Sylvestre or oregano can help you lose weight. Probiotic drinks are extremely beneficial as well; they can promote gut health and make you feel less sluggish after all of your holiday overindulgence.

#4: Create a Meal Plan

You might want to eat healthfully, but you just don’t know what to make. You’ll find that eating healthy can be easier if you create a meal plan. After you’ve created your meal plan, you should make a list of items you’ll need and then head to the grocery store to pick them up. Prepare some of your meals the day before so that you’ll only need to heat them up when it’s mealtime. This will ensure that you have healthy meals on hand even if you are limited on time.

#5: Find an Accountability Partner

An accountability partner can be extremely helpful for getting back on track after the holidays. You shouldn’t have trouble finding someone with similar goals as you since many people are looking to cancel out their holiday overindulgence guilt as well. You and your accountability partner can encourage each other to make healthier choices, and you can celebrate small wins together. You can also hold each other accountable when you don’t make the best choices.

#6: Make Small Changes that Will Have a Big Impact

You don’t have to undergo a complete lifestyle change in order to cancel out your holiday overindulgence guilt. Start by making small changes that you can easily stick to. These small changes can include cutting down on your snacking or aiming to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. While these changes might not seem that big, they can have a big impact in the long run. 

#7: Get Rid of Unhealthy Foods

If you have unhealthy foods in your house, you are more likely to indulge in them. It can be difficult to say no when temptation strikes. This is why it’s a good idea to get rid of any unhealthy items. Donate them to a food pantry, or give them to a friend or relative. Replace them with healthier options that you won’t feel guilty about eating. 

Don’t feel guilty about all of the holiday goodies that you’ve been partaking in. There are plenty of things that you can do in order to get back on track after watching the New Year’s Eve specials on TV. If you utilize the tips mentioned above, you can cancel out some of your holiday overindulgence guilt by making a few healthier choices that you can feel good about.
