How To Create a Cute Bump For Your Ponytail

Sharing is caring!

From curls to straight hair, today’s trends are full of great ideas for glamming up your ponytail. Since Barbie made the style popular in the 1950s, ponytails have become a staple style in most women’s hair repertoire. You’re busy with work, kids, and life in general and rely on many hair tricks to simplify your life, like hot rollers and human hair extensions. For those mornings where it’s tough to get everything done, look fabulous, and get out the door on time. However, be careful and don’t fall into a rut by settling for a limp ponytail. Here are a few fast, beautiful hints to elevate your style.

At the top middle of your head, create a part going from ear to ear, and pull the front hair onto your forehead. You’ll want the back section to contain more hair than the front. The back will be teased to create volume, and the front will be pulled over the teased, voluminous section to give it a smooth, sleek look. Clip the front to stay out of the way. You’ll need it in just a minute. Brush out the back section of hair until it’s smooth. Take a teasing comb and some hair spray. Using small sections at the top of your head begin teasing the back section of hair by holding the hair straight up in one hand, and running the comb down it until you’ve created a bump in the desired size. Spritz the stylish bump with a bit of hairspray to hold and make sure the teasing is even. For everyday wear, keep it simple and elegant.

Grab an elastic and pull the back section of hair into a ponytail, preserving the bump. Loosen the front section from its clip. If you’d like, keep a small section out to wrap around the elastic to hide it. Take small pieces of the front section and pull them back toward the elastic, covering the teased bump. Secure them near the elastic with a few bobby pins. If you left out a section to wrap around the elastic, do this last and secure it with a bobby pin.

If you have a bit of extra time and want to add to the ponytail, take a medium sized curling iron and curl a few sections of hair within the ponytail. After a bit of practice this style will take no time at all, and you’ll love its easy, effortless elegance!
