How to Ensure Your Pooch Gets a Good Nights Sleep

Sharing is caring!

To say that dogs bring a tremendous amount of joy into our lives would be an understatement. Just being around our favorite pooches can help brighten our moods and make our hearts feel full. In light of all the happiness dogs spread, it’s only natural to want our canines to be able to sleep comfortably through the night. Although humans seldom stop to consider the nighttime comfort of other creatures, animals are every bit as susceptible to night troubles as we are. Anyone looking to ensure that their pooch gets a peaceful night’s slumber will be well-served by the following pointers.

Give Them Plenty of Exercise

Dog owners often become so wrapped up in their daily lives that they give little thought to the exercise needs of their best friends. To a point, this is understandable. After all, as animals lack the ability to outright tell us what they need, many guardians assume that their pooches are content in the absence of visible unease. However, it’s important to remember that canines are high-energy creatures, and while some breeds require more physical activity than others, every dog needs to receive a fair amount of exercise.

Dogs that aren’t sufficiently exercised are more likely to suffer from weight issues, boredom and sleep problems. As is the case with other animals (and humans), being overweight can lead to a number of additional health problems in dogs. Not only does it increase their risk for diabetes, it can put tremendous pressure on their joints. Secondly, dogs that are frequently bored tend to act out in ways that cause problems for their owners. In fact, depending on how high-strung your pooch is, they may become outright destructive without proper exercise. Lastly, since dogs who aren’t exercised tend to spend most of the day sleeping, they’re unlikely to sleep comfortably through the night.

In the interest of avoiding the problems synonymous with a lack of exercise, make a point of walking and playing with your pooch every day. The exact amount of physical activity your pooch requires depends on its breed and age, so if you’re unclear on how much exercise your best friend needs, either contact your vet or fire up or visit a dependable pet information website. Additionally, take care to play with your dog before bedtime
