How To Make Keto Garlic Bread

Sharing is caring!

Depending on how much you know about a Keto diet, you may be scratching your head or thinking you’ve fallen into a wonderful dream that you don’t ever want to wake up from. Keto is a popular diet that all but eliminates carbs. Bread is a lot of people’s favorite carb. It has a special place at nearly every meal. If you’ve been missing garlic bread, look no further, we are going to learn how to make keto-friendly garlic bread.

The Right Stuff

Garlic bread is wonderfully simple and goes with almost any meal. If you are following a strict keto diet, the most important step will come in choosing the appropriate bread. Thankfully, with the popularity of keto and other low carb diets, these selections are becoming more prevalent. Try to find a low carb bread that is high in fiber and be sure to pair it with a protein-rich meal.

The three other ingredients you will need for delicious garlic bread are all keto-friendly! Garlic, cheese, and butter. It’s up to you how involved you want to get in the process. You may decide to go all out and chop up fresh garlic cloves for your treat. You can also skip the effort and use garlic out of the jar. I keep an extra-large jar of the stuff in my fridge, no shame! It saves a lot of time and effort if you cook with garlic a lot and are short on time. It also keeps your fingers from smelling like garlic all day. In a pinch, you may even use garlic powder, it’s not ideal but it will get the job done.

Next, select your cheeses. Personally, I like to use fresh mozzarella. Again, it can be a bit of a process, so if you’re short on time, the shredded stuff is fine. You may also wish to experiment with other cheeses, there is really no wrong way. Make sure you use good melting cheeses, like cheddar, Munster, or provolone). Sometimes I like to mix Colby jack with the mozzarella for extra cheesy bread. I like to also have some parmesan on hand to sprinkle on after baking the bread.

The final ingredient in a delicious garlic bread is typically butter. You may instead wish to use half the amount of butter and a couple of tablespoons of olive oil. Both are keto-approved and will result in tasty garlic bread goodness. You can even be a little extra and use garlic butter, which is decadently delicious and will save you another step.

Bake

If it sounds simple, it is. This is no-frills and no fuss. To get started, preheat the oven and lay down foil (for easy cleanup and better baking) on a baking sheet. Combine the garlic and butter (with or without olive oil) to taste and spread on the bread. Garlic bread is all bringing out the parts you like best.

Wrap the foil over the bread and bake for 10 minutes or so. Remove and uncover, sprinkle cheese on the bread until your heart’s content or you run out, whichever comes first. Pop it back in the oven for a few minutes, just until melted. I like to broil or use the convection setting for the last minute or two for a nice little crunch.

Once the cheese has melted, let it rest for a few minutes, then sprinkle with parsley, parmesan, or whatever you like. Slice it up and it’s ready to serve. Make sure you serve this with a high protein meal to keep you full and make the most of your keto diet!
