Taking the whole family camping is such an incredible thing to do, you’re exploring this vast country for all its beauty, scheduling in some serious bonding time and making memories that will last a lifetime. Although you might be taken with romantic pictures of running around with your little ones, revelling in everything that mother nature has to offer, you’re also probably churning with stress and apprehension as to what can go wrong. Anyone who’s travelled with a baby knows how much extra work it takes for everything to run smoothly. Here are a few pointers to help you on your upcoming trip to the great outdoors…
Take the road more travelled
Even though we’re all always looking for the next big, undiscovered camping spot to claim as our own special secret, this is best left to those who are travelling without their young ones at their side. You should only really travel to camping locations that you know, or at least have very good recommendations for, from other people who have children. This way, you can be sure that you’ll enjoy all of the facilities that you and your kids need to have a great time. Save the secluded spots for when they’re teenagers.
Keep information handy
If you’re travelling with a young little baby, then you should probably keep the emergency contact information of your paediatrician or other healthcare practitioner on hand to be safe. Of course, your children are going to be more than secure with you, but it’s always better to be safe rather than sorry. Add all contact information into your phone and keep a few hard copies as well, just for ease of mind.
Stock up on supplies
As a parent, you’re going to be well versed on all the essentials that you need to effectively care for your child. A great tip for taking your parenting on the road is buying doubles of every household essential you keep for your kids, decanting them into smaller containers, labelling them and creating your own kind of first aid kit (in addition to an actual first aid kit, of course!)
Travel smart
Packing carefully is a must for all camping trips, it can be the difference between a beautiful time and a messy, stressful disaster – so pay attention, parents! Make sure that you pack your baby kit in it’s own designated bag or space to always have what you need on hand, when you and your baby need it.
Account for extra baggage
With designated packing and an awful lot of extra stuff, comes the need for some more baggage. This is where your camper trailer really comes into its own in terms of convenience, comfort and the luxury of space. Be sure to account for the extra baggage before you start packing up the car to avoid any last minute dramas or arriving at the camping ground too late to set up in daylight – a rookie’s error!
Invest in more space if you need it
If you’re really cramped for space or you plan on growing your family in the future, then you might want to consider investing in more space to make your trips easier and more enjoyable for everybody involved. A lightweight camper trailer that fits families of four or six will be in your life for a very long time, it’s a future proof investment that gives you the tools you need to have incredible family holidays for the rest of your life! This really is a means of enhancing your adventurous lifestyle and time with your family, so look into it if you’re serious about camping with those kids of yours!
