ICE BlackBox is a Great Protection Against Bullying & Abuse

Did you know that, on average, there are 207,754 people ages 12+ that are victims of sexual assault each year?

This number is alarming and NEEDS to go down. No, it needs to diminish completely. As well as sexual assault there is the issue of bullying. Kids, teens, and adults get bullied every day. As a victim of bullying, I know how it can affect someone mentally. You are constantly on guard, wondering if the bully is going to attack you then, whether it be verbally or physically.

That’s where the ICE BlackBox app comes in. With this app you set up your In Case of Emergency (ICE) contacts. If you are attacked, you can press ‘Record’ and it will record what your attacker is saying and will even take video. All videos are automatically sent to BlackBox’s cloud. At the top is the ‘Call 911’ button where it will make an emergency call if you need help, and it also notifies your ICE contacts by text message or email.

When you first download ICE BlackBox, you have to create your profile. You just input your name, phone number, and create a password and then you put your In Case of Emergency contacts in. It’s very easy as you can just pick people from your contact’s list and it will import them into your ICE contacts.

ICE BlackBox App Could Save Lives | Optimistic Mommy

I know that I am going to feel a lot safer having this app because if there’s an emergency and I need help I can just press ‘Call 911’ and it will do it for me. And I’ve memorized where the app is on my phone so I can press it without even looking at it. I do like the video it can take – an attacker would probably be less likely to attack if you get them on video, which is a great thing. I do not know if a cell phone video would hold up in court (although I would hope so) but it’s great to have as evidence just in case.

  1. Hi Courtney,
My name is Jessica and I am a journalism student at Indiana University South Bend. I am writing a story on the ICE BlackBox app, and wanted to get a parent’s opinion of the application. As a woman, would you feel safer having an application like this on your phone? As a parent, how do you believe the application would help children being bullied? My teacher will be the only person to read the story. Please feel free to email me.
