It’s Time To Get My Butt in Gear and Exercise!

Sharing is caring!

A few days ago I joined a gym. Again. I had joined a gym a couple of months after Riley was born… so about two years ago. I went maybe three times. It was really too far away and with the vehicle we had at the time, it was costing us too much in gas. So I stopped going and cancelled my membership (luckily I was on a month-to-month “contract” so it wasn’t too big of a deal).

With my grief of losing my mom I have either been eating too much (I guess you would call it binge eating) or not eating enough. And what I do eat usually isn’t the healthiest. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. Right now my go-to food of choice is the Loaded Potato Grillers from Taco Bell. Cheap and good. But not so good for my body, I bet.

Along with this eating I’m sure I’ve gained even more weight. I have no idea where our scale is after moving, and I probably don’t want to really see what I weigh. The part I hate most on my body is my stomach. Ever since giving birth, it has been pretty nasty to me. The stretch marks are fine – I can deal with those. It’s the huge overhang I have – so nasty. And I’m sure my husband is tired of hearing me complain about it. Luckily he’s a great husband and says he doesn’t care what I look like and loves me no matter what… but it’s hard to love myself when I’m not completely happy with how I look.

So that is why I have joined a gym. I am determined to at least do a couple of miles on the bikes or something every other day. Maybe eventually do the weight machines to tone, if possible. I just need to do something. Sitting around on my butt, eating and complaining is not going to help – I have to actually do something about it.

If you have any tips on how to get rid of my belly overhang or any tips at all for any exercises that are good for a beginner, I would love to hear them! Like the title of my post, I’m ready to get my butt in gear and exercise for a better, healthier me!

Oh, also! I have a FitBit One that tracks my exercise and sleep habits… if you have an account with FitBit you should follow me!

  1. I found that logging my food intake is the only way to know exactly what I am eating each and every day. When I do this and stick to it, I lose the weight fairly easily and when I fail to use it I noticed that I gain it right back. I use myfitnesspal application on my phone. It is easy to use and has almost everything you can imagine when it comes to logging food, especially, if you eat out. It is a free app and it will even calculate what you need your calories to be at in order to lose the weight. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. 🙂

  2. When I read the title, I thought to myself: you and me both!! I’ve been so lazy to do any exercise and I’m seeing the negative changes in my body… Not just weight wise, but health wise too. I’m always tired!
So sorry to hear about your mom.. I can only imagine what you’re going through. xoxo
