I participated in the Mom Blog Tour at the Summer Fancy Food Show on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers and received John Wm. Macy’s CheeseSticks products to facilitate my review.
Cheese is one of the best foods around. Do you agree? While in New York City in June for the Fancy Food Show, I got the opportunity to meet the owner of a great company with his name in it – John Wm. Macy’s CheeseSticks. I’m excited to tell you a little more about their products and share a queso dip to go along with his CheeseSticks!
Here I am with John Wm. Macy himself! John first started Easy Cook Eaty, a small catering business in Northern California in the 1970s just out of college. John never liked to use ready-made appetizers, so he created a “spicy, twisted breadstick by laminating multiple layers of sharp cheddar cheese and fresh sourdough, hand-twisting strips of the layered dough and baking them twice to a satisfying crunch.” He started by selling CheeseSticks at county fairs and carnivals along the coast of California. After moving to New York City in 1979, he installed a small commercial oven and dough sheeter in his apartment in 1982 to start production. 3 years later he was able to launch his official business from a small leased storefront on New York’s Lower East side. To this day, John Wm. Macy has 80 employees producing “the perfect crunch” in a 50,000 square foot snack factory in northern New Jersey.
The CheeseSticks are available in five different flavors: Original Cheddar, Melting Parmesan, Dijon Swiss, Garlic Romano, and Cheddar & Scallion. And all five flavors are absolutely delicious and definitely have “the perfect crunch.” I also love how they are made with natural, wholesome ingredients.
John Wm Macy’s also produces CheeseCrisps available in 5 great flavors: Asiago & Cheddar, Smoked Jalapeno, Melting Romano, Garlic Parmesan, and Sesame Gruye. These were created by John Macy in the mid 1980’s as a bar snack for the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.
And, of course, John Wm. Macy had to create a delicious dessert stick! SweetSticks are available in Dutch Chocolate, Madagascar Vanilla, and Java Cinnamon. All three flavors are great for dipping in your favorite ice cream, coffee, cappuccino, or tea! And they have no artificial flavors, dyes, or preservatives.
To go along with John Wm. Macy’s CheeseSticks and CheeseCrisps, I decided to make a queso. Because what goes better with CheeseSticks than more cheese? 🙂 You can never have too much cheese, right? With just a few ingredients and a few minutes I was able to create a delicious dip with a little bit of heat that my family and I enjoyed!
