Having the best tech toys are not only important to adults but to kids as well. So when I was invited by leapFrog to try out their new LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum tablet, I knew Riley and I were going to have a blast! LeapFrog never fails to deliver great tablets and other technology for kids – and that’s still true with their Platinum tablet and new Imagicards!First is the new LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum tablet, the biggest, best, and toughest LeapPad ever! You still have a library of 1,000+ age-appropriate, educator-approved games, apps, eBooks, videos and more – with added awesomeness included! The screen is a 7″ high-resolution, multi-touch capacitive screen with a fast high-performance processor to offer the biggest learning experiences. It also includes LeapSearch, which is a kid-safe web browser to let kids explore content that they will love. The content is handpicked by LeapFrog’s team of learning experts and features expanded parental settings for fine-tuning.Something that is always of concern to me is durability. The LeapPad Platinum is LeapFrog’s most durable tablet ever. It has a shatter-safe screen and a wrap-around bumper that has been thoroughly drop-tested, impact-tested and compression-tested in the LeapFrog Quality Lab.As far as space on the Platinum tablet goes, it includes 8 GB memory to hold up to 40,000 photos or 100+ game apps. It comes with a Music Player with 10 songs, Pet Pad Party, Pet Chat, Photo Fun Ultra, five Utility Apps, and a choice of one app download. Oh, and did I mention it has a back and front camera for added fun? Next up is one of my favorite new things – and Riley is loving it as well. It’s the LeapFrog Imagicards! These trading cards bring characters and learning to life for kids with just the snap of a picture. Here’s what the director of Learning at LeapFrog, Dr. Jody LeVos, had to say about this new addition to the LeapFrog family:
We were looking to create a physical and digital experience with LeapFrog Imagicard and LeapPad Platinum, while also providing a more social and traditional learning environment – with the versatility of various game play experiences. Through parent and kid testing, we found that parents liked the idea of a card experience. And, kids loved that they could bring their favorite characters to life in an interactive tablet experience, as well as collect and share cards with their friends.
LeapFrog Imagicard launches with three favorite characters:
- LeapFrog’s Letter Factory – For ages 4-7 years, teaches phonics, spelling, consonants and blends, word sounds and rhyme, and sight words
- PAW Patrol – For ages 3-5 years, teaches number recognition, counting, shapes, patterns, addition and subtraction
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – For ages 5-8 years, teaches addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and number composition
Riley is a huge fan of PAW Patrol, so these interactive cards are her favorite! For me, I love that there’s a personalized learning experience that adapts automatically during play. Imagicards are compatible with all LeapFrog LeapPad tablets except for LeapPad 1. All of the Imagicards come with a branded tin for storage, a play mat for card sorting, and offline learning activities. And if you are on the go, your child can still play the games since all 30+ cards are also digitally included in the game!I am a huge lover of the new LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum tablet – it brings the same great library of games and apps that my daughter already enjoys plus has an added bonus of the great LeapSearch and even more durability. And the Imagicards are just a fun learning time – I can’t wait to get Riley the LeapFrog Letter Factory Imagicards; I know she is going to love them! I can’t wait to see the next great item that LeapFrog comes out with!

I’m a 20-something stay-at-home mother and wife. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful daughter, two loving dogs, and a lazy cat. I wouldn’t change my life for anything! I love to read, listen to music, cook and blog!
Their systems keep getting more and more advanced! A far cry from what was out there when my girls were that age.
I didn’t even know that LeapPads were still around! Apparently they are alive and kickin’! Looks like a fantastic toy/tool for the kiddos!
I jave always heard such great things about Leap Frog products both on and off line. I wonder if my niece would want this for her daughter-she might be a bit young for it yet-but it can’t hurt to ask!
I love teaching technology like leap frog. It helps kids understand what is needed for tomorrow’s future.
This LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum looks really awesome! The Imagicards look like a great addition to the tablet, as well!
Ever since my boys were little, I have always loved Leap Frog learning toys. They really are great for sharpening the skills of the children who play with them.
I have heard so many great things about LeapFrog products. My kids are grown but I am always looking for gift ideas for my little nieces and nephews. I don’t think they have the LeapFrog so this would make a nice surprise.
I like how it spans across a decent age range. They create the best educational tools!
That’s one amazing tablet. I don’t own much Leapfrog products but what I’m seeing today is something I’d love to give as a gift.
