There really is no movie more classic than Disney’s Cinderella. I have always loved the 1950 animated version. I used to watch it all the time when I was little, and have watched it many times with my daughter. So I was super excited when I heard they were doing a live action version. When I heard that the cast consisted of Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Richard Madden, and Helena Bonham Carter, I knew that this version was going to be wonderful – and I was correct!

Lily James plays Cinderella. When her mother (Hayley Atwell) passes away, her father ends up marrying Lady Tremaine – who fits the bill as evil stepmother, for sure. Along with Drisella (Sophie McShera) and Anastasia (Holliday Grainger), Lady Tremaine’s evil stepdaughters, they make Cinderella’s life a living hell after her father (Ben Chaplin) passes away. After Cinderella meets a beautiful man in the woods (who ends up being the Prince, played by Richard Madden) she falls for him. And the Prince, of course, falls for her. So much so that he hopes to see her again by ordering a ball to be held to find his Princess. Cinderella doesn’t think she’ll get to go after being forbidden by her stepmother – that is until her fairy godmother (Helena Bonham Carter) comes along, of course!

CINDERELLAThis 2015 version of Cinderella did not disappoint, that is for sure! The acting was superb, and the cinemetography was beautiful. My favorite scenes were when Fairy Godmother outfitted Cinderella and turned the pumpkin into a carriage, along with the horses and coachmen. And then I loved when the clock struck midnight and they turned into their original animals. I will say – the scenes where Cinderella’s mother and father passed away made me cry. Of course. Lady Tremaine and her daughter’s acting were so great – they were so evil that you couldn’t help but love them just a bit for the acting. And Lily James and Richard Madden are a beautiful couple – I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Cinderella and Prince Charming!

Go see Cinderella (rated PG) this weekend! You will not be disappointed!
