I know that timezone changes can be hard on everyone. Even though my kids love the fall when they get that “extra hour” of sleep, the quickly remember that they lose that “extra hour” come early spring.
This year, Daylight Saving Time is quickly approaching on March 8th and, for many moms, that leads to nervousness and anxiety about their baby’s sleep patterns.
The time transition of “springing forward” is so top-of-mind for parents that a recent survey conducted by Pampers found that 77% are concerned with Daylight Saving Time affecting their child’s sleep pattern. More than half of parents surveyed dread the anticipated disruption to their child’s sleep schedule more than tax season!
Another survey conducted by Pampers found that nearly one-quarter of mothers (24%) felt that a dry diaper was the number one thing that enabled their baby to sleep through the night.
Through Pampers’ extensive research on sleep, they’ve learned that babies are more vulnerable to waking up when they’re wet. And a dry night means baby is more likely to be more rested, less fussy and more content the next day.
That’s why across their entire line, Pampers diapers offer up to 12 hours of overnight protection and are up to three times drier than ordinary diapers to help babies get the uninterrupted sleep they need for a great morning.
As you transition into the new time on March 8th, make sure to have plenty of Pampers on hand to give your little one and yourself a restful week.
Please join @Pampers on March 3rd from 9-10pmEST as they host a Twitter Party with renowned sleep expert, “The Sleep Lady,” Kim West! Kim will be sharing her tips for helping little ones through the Daylight Saving Time sleep transition and will also be answering your questions regarding baby sleep! To follow along, follow the party hashtag – #PampersSleepChat

I’m a 20-something stay-at-home mother and wife. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful daughter, two loving dogs, and a lazy cat. I wouldn’t change my life for anything! I love to read, listen to music, cook and blog!
I try to stick to getting a nap with kids at same time or around same time as we would at home.
Try to not think so much about time as about how the kids are acting. If the act like they need nap, then it’s naptime.
We adjust slowly the week before. In 15 min increments.
I plan on playing with my son a lot that day and wearing him out so he goes to sleep early!
I agree with the first commenter! I take a nap around the time change or I end up moody!
We start getting them adjusted 2 weeks before the time change.
I try small adjustments — and usually it only takes one really tiring day to then be back on track.
Fall back was rough for my baby, so I’m nervous about this!
I just stick to our normal sleep routine, it really doesn’t affect them.
Luckily my son isn’t bothered by the time change!
I’m pregnant with my first baby and know that I will have to encounter daylight savings time in the future, I plan on sticking to a routine and adjusting my baby’s sleeping schedule during these times.
I try to slowly make changes a week or so prior to the time change to help get settled in by time change.
We try to gradually start shifting our son’s schedule leading up to the time changes
We start the new bedtime and morning routines changes gradually so my little one doesn’t feel the effect of the whole hour all in one night
I just go on with the new time. It’s one hour and as a nursing mom, our schedule is mostly unscheduled, lol.
I am also a gradual change person, makes it less dramatic.
I try to put my LO to bed 10-15 mins earlier for like 5 days before & usually by the time , the time changes, he’s used to it 🙂
I always try to put my LO to bed 10-15 mins earlier for like 5 days before & usually by the time , the time changes, he’s used to it
I don’t really do anything special to adapt to the change.
We have not had a problem with the time change
Thank you for all of this!
Im in Tucson az no time zone changes 🙂 .. but it were the case.. id try hard to stay on my normal schedule.. when i traveled to vegas a couple times it was soo different kzu its a two hours difference n i wasnt used to it =/n i had to be at a conference from 730am to 5pm all day! it was weird calling home:) but luckily nowa days your phone changes with the time zone so that made it easier :)!
we don’t do anything differen
well it’s a good thing my daughter isn’t old enough to tell time yet but her body can. Fingers crossed it’s an easy transition but we’ll try and keep to our regular routine and adjust as we go.
Get to bed earlier and wear the kids out by playing outside more. If that doesn’t work, just give it some time and everyone will adjust!!
