The picture above is from this morning when we headed to PetSmart to get Frankie some treats and a couple toys. Frankie is such a wonderful dog. We are so lucky to have him in our family. 🙂
I had an embarrassing moment at PetSmart today. Well, we paid for the goodies we bought Frankie and we were walking out to the car. Miles asks me, “Did you pay for the frisbee?” I had totally forgotten that Riley had been holding the frisbee we were getting so I totally forgot to pay for it! I was so embarrassed. I’m too honest of a person that I went back inside and paid for it. The cashier said she saw that it was in the cart when we were going out the door but she figured Riley had just picked it up and we didn’t notice it so she didn’t say anything. On one hand I’m kind of glad she didn’t say anything because that would have been even more embarrassing because it would be like I was accused of stealing. On the other hand, she’s not a very honest worker.
I still can’t believe I did that! At least I did it and I was honest and went back in and paid for it. I would want my daughter to do the same thing if she ever did something like that on accident.
What would you have done? Would you have gone back in or would you have figured since they didn’t notice you got to keep it? You can be honest. 🙂
I’m a 20-something stay-at-home mother and wife. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful daughter, two loving dogs, and a lazy cat. I wouldn’t change my life for anything! I love to read, listen to music, cook and blog!
I’ve done that with my little guy at Goodwill. I was carrying him in the sling and had given him some measuring spoons to play with while I shopped. I totally forgot about them as I was paying. Luckily I remembered before we left the store. It was only 88 cents, but still! Like you, I wanted to set a good example for him about the importance of honesty. 😉
I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one out in the world who would of been honest, and I’m especially happy to hear that I’m not the only one to have done this! LOL.
1) I do stuff like that all the time so we’re in this together!
2) I totally would have gone back in and paid for it, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to sleep that night!
That’s what I call an honest mistake! The world would be a better place with more honest people!
I’d have to agree! Someone I talked to said that wouldn’t have blamed me if I wouldn’t have gone back in to pay for it. I would have felt so guilty, though! I would never be able to live with myself (even though it was only a $2 frisbee!)
Generally, I would do what you did. A couple times, we didn’t notice until we got home — sleep deprived mom of little kids at the time — and I must confess I didn’t go back. Today, I won’t drive back if I notice something was left off the bill, but the next time I go to that store, I’ll fix it with customer service (though they usually say not to worry about it).
I definitely understand if you didn’t notice until you got home that you didn’t worry about it. I’ve noticed that things didn’t scan on my bill and I usually don’t worry about that because at least I put it on the belt/counter to have them scan it. That’s not really my fault, you know?
I would have done the same thing. Honesty is the only way to go for me. Once my 4 year old daughter snuck a package of gum from the store and I made her go back and pay for it…how could I do anything different? It is embarrassing though. So glad you didn’t get caught for stealing…lol
BTW, your dog is so cute. I’m looking for a small, short haired dog for me…what kind of dog is he? Any recommendations?
I had replied before but I guess it didn’t go through!
Anyways… That’s good that you made her go back and pay for it. I would have done the exact same thing. If you didn’t make her, then you would basically be telling her it’s okay and she might try to steal other things in the future.
Our dog is a Puggle; mix between a pug and beagle. I definitely recommend either a pug or a beagle, or a mix between the two. They’re wonderful dogs who are great with kids!
I would have went back in too. I think any honest person with children has had to do the same thing. My 4 yr old just last night picked out these squishy lizards from the dollar section in Target last night. She said, “Mama I will put them in your purse til we get home.” and I of course turned that into a lesson for her about stealing and paying for something before you leave the store. She understood very well. Good job for being honest and love the dog!
