Start of the Right Airport Transfers Here

Sharing is caring!

Often, when we leave for a few days in Rome via a low cost flight, the trip to the nearest airport home costs me more than the flight! How to get to the airport cheaply? What are the possible solutions? What is the least expensive solution? As always, there is no quick fix. Depending on the airport, the duration of your trip, flight times, and other parameters the cheapest option may be different! Just like in the US, blueskylimo does the job fairly well by offering Vail to Aspen Limousine Service at the airport.

This post therefore addresses the different solutions, with the advantages and disadvantages: bus, train, private shuttleand car.

Bus Connection

  • For links of the order of 50 to 150 kilometers, there are sometimes buses that allow to go to the airport at lower cost.
  • For example, it is possible from Rome to go by bus to airport.
  • Another example, living in Lille, I often leave Rome airport which offers a great offer of low cost flights. The airport is located 100 kilometers. A bus company offers this route for a fee ranging from 5 to 25 dollars one way.
  • For this solution to remain affordable, it is often necessary to reserve several months (2/3) in advance.
  • If you are several, you have to compare the overall price with other solutions like the private shuttle or the use of your own vehicle.

Train

If you go to Rome or the other side of the world, there is a good chance that your flight will leave airport. The train can then be a good solution for those who do not live in Paris.

Especially for these trips, we reserve a long time in advance. If you book your train ticket at the same time as your flight (often between 1 to 3 months before your trip) you will certainly benefit from a Ticket. You can have the Rome airport transfers for the same.

Car & Parking

If you do not live too far from the airport and leave for a relatively short stay, the car option may need to be studied.

The journey itself will not necessarily cost you much. By cons, leave your car at the airport can be a ruin: between 10 and 16 euros per day on average.

Airport parking

For some airports there are low cost car parks located a few kilometers from the airport. This car park then offers a free shuttle to the airport.

Private Shuttle

The airport shuttle can be an excellent solution, comfortable and economical if you are traveling to more than one, for example, you live in Rome.

For various reasons, it can be largely preferable to public transport: comfort, night travel outside the hours of operation of public transport.

Know that in some countries like the Rome, vehicles are only equipped with automatic transmission. Have you ever driven with this type of box? No worries, you’ll see, it’s easy, you’ll learn quickly! Practice a little on the car park of the renter and go there quiet the first hours. It was during our road trip in Rome that we drove for the first time with an automatic transmission. At first, it’s confusing. And then, we got there quickly. And frankly, it’s not bad at all!
