The way that Tophatter runs is there is an auctioneer (similar to a real-life auction) who runs the auction behind a podium. There is a gaggle of people in front of the auctioneer who are real people who are trying to buy awesome stuff – just like you! I love that you can customize the fashion of your avatar – makes it an even more personalized experience! To the right of the podium is the Auction Block which shows the next item up for bid. You can click on this item to see more information about the item up for bidding, like how much the item is valued for, how long it takes for shipping, etc. To bid on the item, you click on the ‘Bid $_” button. It will bid $1 higher than the current bid. I love that you can pay via PayPal, so it makes for a much more easier process, in my opinion. You can also pay by credit card if you wish to do so. Below where you can bid for the current item is the Upcoming items. You can see which items are coming up for auction and get more information about them.

Sadly, I have not been able to actually win anything. It always comes down to the wire – I was about half a second away from winning this awesome supply of beads – but then someone placed a higher bid than I did right before it closed out. But that is what makes Tophatter so much fun!
